Friday nite 6/26/09 I got a call from a vet about a Boston Puppy that had been hit by a car inquiring
if we would take her. Naturally, I said yes, you know I can't turn down one in severe need.
So we need to do more fundraising. Junebug is going
to be her name. If you can send anything to help on her vet bills, we sure would appreciate it. The
vet estimated around $3000 plus for the surgeries she needs. So we can use your help to help her. Remember
ABTR is a 501c3 charitable organization and every penny you donate is tax-deductible. Also we have a calendar
contest going to raise funds and haven't had many entries, please consider participating in the contest
and help us as well as get your baby in a calendar! Thank you all.
Junebug's story I am working on this page on Sunday the 28th and it may not be finished until
late evening.
Scroll down to Nicky in the Available Dogs section for his update page.
ABTR has stepped up and pledged to help this poor POISONED Little Yorkie puppy in an emergency vet
clinic that sent out a plea to the rescue community to help save: URGENT NEED!!!
I know this is not a Boston Terrier, but... she is a dog that needed help in a hurry, so...
we offered to help her when she needed it most. We have only succeeded in collecting about $700 in
donations for her vetting, Won't you please consider pledging just $10 to help us pay for the
treatment this poor puppy needed that her owners would not pay for? ABTR is committed to doing all
we can for her, but as always our resources have been stretched thin so we need some help to give
this little girl the help she needs. Her vetting has exceeded $1500 so far and she still needs to
be spayed and have other vetting, so we're grateful for each and every contribution. Thank you.
ABTR is a 501c3 charitable organization and every penny you donate is tax-deductible.
ZaZa's story
As always, we at ABTR appreciate your continued support of our rescue efforts. Without your
generosity and support, we could not have helped as many dogs as we have over the years. :) Thank
you so very much.

You've always said your furbaby should be in pictures!
American Boston Terrier Rescue is hosting our fifth annual calendar photo
contest. We've expanded our search to all rescued Boston Terriers, not
just ABTR rescues.
We consider a rescue to be any BT who was adopted from rescue, adopted
from a shelter, found as a stray and adopted, rescued from an
abusive/neglectful situation, etc.
The winning photos will be featured in the 2010 ABTR calendar,
which will be available in time for holiday gift giving.
Some things to keep in mind when submitting photos...
***Entry fees: $3 per photo, or 4 photos for $10.
***We will accept personal checks, money orders or paypal.
***Snail Mail address for checks/money orders:
ABTR
PO Box 1286
Little Elm, TX 75068
***Paypal Address: fundraiser@rescuebostons.org
***Deadline for photo submissions is Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11:59pm CST***
1. All submissions need to be sent to Calendar Contest .
2. Digital photos only, please. No hard copy photos accepted.
3. The pictures need to be rather large. A good guideline is 1600 x 1200
pixels. Please be sure that your adopted rescue Boston is the main subject
of the picture and that there's not too much going on in the background.
Remember, these photos need to be very clear, crisp and large! Think
CALENDAR QUALITY.
4. JPGs only, please. If you have BMPs, GIFs or another format, you can
download Irfanview from tucows.com for free and change the format
using that program.
5. When submitting your pictures, please include your name, email address,
the names of the people and animal(s) in the photo, the name(s) of the
dog(s) you adopted, the group(s) they were adopted from, and a short bio.
Also, please let us know how you will pay the submission fee, whether by
Paypal (fundraiser@rescuebostons.org), or via snail mail (personal check or
money order). That way we know where to look for your payment.
6. Submissions that have not been paid for by the July 17th deadline will
not be included in the contest.
7. You may enter as many photos as you like, but there will be an entry fee
per photo. This is a fundraiser, after all.
The ABTR Board of Directors will meet and choose the lucky winners on *July
25th, 2009*. Once the winners have been chosen, we will make the
announcement to the list.
Calendars will be available in time for holiday gift giving and we'll post
those details as soon as they're available for purchase.

Thanks!

Read The Marx Brothers Story. ABTR takes all Bostons no matter how old or what is wrong with them. This is
just one
of the many stories of severely health and/or age compromised dogs that we have taken,
vetted and
placed in loving homes, which is why we need your financial and volunteer support.

Unfortunately, not all the babies that ABTR tries to save are adopted. Some like Wee
Willie who was picked up by Animal control who contacted us
and was
rushed to the vet do not make it. A lot of the seniors stay with us until the end of
their
days being loved, cared for and vetted as if they were a member of the foster's family.
These vet
bills need to be paid as well which is why we ask for your donations.

IF YOU WANT TO SURRENDER A DOG
in North Texas (DFW/Fort Worth
Metroplex
and surrounding areas) /Southern Oklahoma/West Arkansas/Northern Louisiana,
please contact us via our voicemail at (972) 407-4440.
ABTR accepts all Bostons no matter how old they are or what is wrong
with them healthwise as we have space available in our program. We DO
NOT accept human or dog aggressive dogs as we do not have any 1 dog
foster homes. We do have a waiting list and Kill shelters that work with
us get priority over any other dogs on the waiting list.
We WILL NOT return calls that are just asking questions about dogs
available.
DOG INFORMATION IS ON THESE WEBPAGES!!!
PLEASE READ IT
IF you
have SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT A CERTAIN DOG, please feel free to email
them to Wanda , otherwise, all the
information that I have about the dog is right here on this page.
We are
volunteers and our time is limited and we prefer to spend time taking
care of the dogs instead of answering questions that have already been
answered below. If you are interested in adoption, please fill out our
application. THANK YOU!!!

|
We recommend anyone adopting a dog from us to
use a
crate to prevent any damage to your home or belongings due to separation anxiety that may
not
manifest itself here. We further recommend that you take the dog to OBEDIENCE classes to
help
teach your dog to become a good member of your family and to help you bond
together.
|
|
ATTENTION: When you are approved is when you
get to
choose a dog from the ones that are currently available that I think will suit your
needs, IF you
are ready to adopt at that time !!! IF YOU ARE NOT READY to adopt at the time you are
approved,
then I will NOT hold a particular dog for you as I need to get these dogs out of here and
not
have them holding spaces that another dog needs for 2 or more weeks waiting on someone
to get
back from vacation, etc. Once you are ready to adopt after you are approved is when you
can choose
a dog from the ones available. If I only had one or 2 dogs in it would not matter, but
there are
some weeks I get up to 8 new dogs into rescue and I need the space. Thank you for your
understanding.
|
|
Other dogs MAY BE available that may not be listed yet as I don't always have time to
update the
page daily. Some of these dogs above may have adoptions pending or have been adopted out
as I
don't always have time to update daily. BE PREPARED TO ACCEPT A DIFFERENT BT THAN THE ONE
YOU
APPLY FOR if the dog does not fit into the family dynamics or has been already adopted by
someone
approved before you. We do work the apps in the order we get them. Please fill out an
application
if you are interested in adopting a BT. Thank you
|
|
|
For local adopters, we do NOT let you take dogs on a trial basis, either you
want to adopt a particular dog or you do not want to adopt a dog. These dogs
have been through enough upheaval in their lives, moving them into a new
home for a few days or weeks and then back to rescue would traumatize them
even more. So, please do not ask me about taking the dogs on a trial basis as
the answer is NO. Be sure you want to adopt a dog before you adopt it. We
are always willing to take a dog back that doesn't work out, but we try to find
the right fit the first time. I am looking for homes who will consider these
dogs part of the family, not just dogs to try out and return if they are not
perfect. No dog is perfect, whether it is rescued or not.
|
|
PLEASE NOTE: IF THE PICTURES ARE JUST A SQUARE WITH A X IN IT LIKE THIS , THEN IT MEANS THAT I HAVEN'T TAKEN A PICTURE AND POSTED IT YET!!! I
WILL POST
A PICTURE AS SOON AS I TAKE ONE.

Other dogs MAY BE available that may not be listed yet and some of these dogs above may

|
|
PLEASE NOTE: Adoption pending means that I am just waiting on the adoption fee or
transport for
the dog to go to their new home.
|
|
Please do not apply with every Texas rescue, just apply with the one that has the dog you
want to
adopt. Often we are working the same applications and that wastes our time when we could
be
working different apps and re-home more dogs. Thank you for your understanding!!!
ADOPTIONS ARE BY APPLICATION ONLY!!!! |
|
IF you have SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT A CERTAIN DOG, please feel free to email them to me,
otherwise all the information that I have about the dog is right here on this
page.
I process the apps in the order that I receive them,
WHEN I
have time between vetting, fetching dogs, home visits, my life, etc. Sometimes it is a
couple of
weeks before I start processing your application due to the busyness of my schedule. IF
you get
another dog in the meantime, please have the courtesy to send me an email and let me
know.
The Adoption Process Is: 1) You fill out
and
email app to me. If there is anything that you think I need to know that I have not asked
you or
you have certain requirements or traits you are looking for in a dog, please put it in
the
application.
2) I check your references.
3) If those pass, then I arrange a home visit.
4) If that passes, then you can adopt a dog from the ones that are available at
that time. A dog that you may be interested in may already have had a number of
applications already in on him that were processed before yours, so please be
willing to adopt another dog that I may have come in that suits your needs.
While pictures are nice to see, looks are not everything. Personality and
actions are what determine the best dog for you.

DOGS CURRENTLY
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
THESE ARE ABTR DOGS
ABTR Is Responsible For The Care Of These Dogs
Updates:
Due to the large amount of time it takes to care for the dogs, it is difficult to
frequently
update the individual dog's bios. The dogs here are in a loving safe environment, so if
the
information provided has been listed for a while, chances are the dog has seen some
improvement
and hopefully has blossomed. The longer a dog is here, the more we can tell you about
his or her
personality and make a good family match when we do your finalinterview.
Note: Hundreds of wonderful dogs have found forever homes through
American
Boston Terrier Rescue. We have set up two pages to feature and honor some of these dogs.
You will
find the first page,
New Beginnings and Happy Endings by clicking
here. The second
page was
specifically made to highlight our Senior
adoptees and their gracious families, you can
view it by clicking
here.
There are
many Special Care
Dogs that come to
ABTR in such poor conditions but with your support and the loving care of
everyone involved many of them emerge ready to live the life they were intended
to all along. We want to share just a few of their stories to encourage you that
even ONE can make a difference. Be aware that many of the images can be heart
breaking and graphic but the outcome is what it is all about. You can view their
stories by clicking here.
IMPORTANT
At this time, most of our dogs are not kid tested as they have come from shelters or
picked up as
strays. Occasionally, we get a dog that is from a family environmentand in that case, it
will
say on the website thisdog is good with kids, etc.If you have kids and are an approved
adopter we
will do our best to match a dog with your family that will be compatible with children.
However,
we can not guarantee a dog to be kid friendly as we do not have many foster homes with
children.
After you are an approved adopter we can cat test a dog you may be interested in. The
tests will
only be performed after you have become an approved adopter. Thankyou for your
understanding in
this matter.

This boy is something else. He is a character and a half. He hates being crated and tells

about it. HE loves to go and sniff everything. HE loves attention and gets along
with most dogs. He doesn't like other dogs getting in his face. I do believe he
has some healing ulcers on his eyes, Cindy hasn't looked at them yet to tell me
what they are. He can see fine. He has a lot of hair loss across his back like a
lot of them we get that have been covered in fleas and is a bit under nourished
with dry flakey skin. With some good care, love and good food, he will soon be
looking good and ready for a new home. This boy will make someone very happy
because he is energetic and very loving.

BEAMISH
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Available For The Senior For Senior
Male
Approx 30.2 lbs lbs
10-11 years
Owner Surrender at Waco Shelter
Seal and White - Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - Ignores them
Children - not tested
House trained - seems to be using the doggie door
Other Dogs - Ok with the other dogs here
SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
I got a note from Lynda about this guy and here is what I was told:
QUOTE: Here is the picture. His name is Deogi. He is 10-11 healthy
looking neutered male. Came in with a poodle and was calm
(poodle was acting the fool) until the man started beating him with
a bag of dog food. He bit the man on the tip of his finger but
did not bring blood. Is getting along with caregivers in the
kennel and was reported to be quite calm in his surroundings.
Does not have any problems with the caregivers working with him." END OF QUOTE
This is what my transport volunteer Jim had to say about him quote:
"Just dropped Beamish off with Wanda, and what a pleasure
he was to have riding shotgun in Velma today! Wanda says
he is either a "seal" Boston (dark ruddy brown coat), or he
has been left outdoors in the sun too long! If he gets some
salmon oil in him and that coat starts shining, he'll be a
knockout!
He has quite a few lumps and bumps, and needs a bath
desperately, but what a handsome, big bully rascal! Very
laid back, he was relaxed and either napped or
watched traffic go by with interest but no anxiety. There is NO
way this dog would ever show aggression unless he felt his
life was endangered, so if Beamish nipped that owner who slugged
him with a bag of food, the moron had it coming - and then some.
This is a very sweet, kind dog.
He climbed right into a crate in Wanda's van with all those other
dogs hovering around, and Lynda had mentioned he seemed to
be very blase about cats as he left the shelter, though just getting
out might have made him less concerned about felines. I'm sure
Gareth's kitties will prove ultimately Beamish's threshold for cats!
Can't guess age - he's definitely at least an adult, maybe a senior.
And he probably weighs in close to 30 pounds. He's a big 'un." Wanda and I
did chuckle that at least this one didn't
need to pile on the groceries like Nicky and so many
of the ones we get in... in fact, he could stand to MISS
a few meals, though we will see from his blood
chemistry whether or not there are any underlying
conditions that might make him "puffy". (guess we can
rule out monthly water weight gain...)He was a joy to transport and I'm sure will be no problem
during his vetting or after adoption. He's a mellow dude.End of QUOTE
Wanda's notes: This is a very laid back gentleman. He fits his name Beamish as being very dignified.
I am sure if he bit
someone that sob who was beating him deserved it. I don't know why the SOB was beating him with a bag
of dog food other than he must have been deranged and dumb as who names a dog... the initials D - O - G?
This boy follows me around, lays
at my feet, gets on well with the other dogs although he and my Boxer Teddy have been doing some
hard playing and come in a huffing and a puffing, so he can get rowdy. Beamish is just a very sweet
and mostly laid back boy. He
slept by my bed last night. He is an older boy and has a few lumps we need to remove.
Beamish is a very nice boy. He is a little puffy so may have some underlying health problems.
Dr. Cindy will pull some bloodwork and we will go from there.
Beamish's small blood work did not indicate anything abnormal other than a slight elevation in the ALB
which could indicate heart or liver problems. We have sent blood off to the lab to have it evaluated
a little more in depth. Dr. Cindy removed the lump and it has been sent off for analysis. She also
shortened his elongated palate as he was kinda wheezy and he doesn't seem to be wheezing like he was since
he had that done. He was heartworm negative.
UPDATE: Lab results - CBC ok, mildly anemic, interpretations of lab findings on lump Pilomatricoma - a benign
follicular origin neoplasm. All his blood levels were normal except for a high ALP which could indicate something
going on with liver or heart.
He had a seizure that lasted about 4 seconds and if I hadn't been standing there I wouldn't have seen it. HE fell
over, his legs twitched, then he got up and went about his business as if nothing had happened. I have boxers and
they do stuff like that when there is something going on with the heart So next week we will take him in and get
a heart xray and a eeg or ekg or whatever that graph thing is called.
Beamish is a very young acting older guy and even with a bit of heart condition, he would still make someone a great companion.
UPDATE: Turns out the seizure wasn't a seizure, but was a heart episode. Beamish is dropping
a few beats and his heart is enlarged. We have started him on lasix and enalapril.
If
you would like to contribute to Beamish's vet bill, please feel free to use
paypal for your payment or you can mail the payment to my vet with the notation

BERINGER
VET HOLD!
Male
22 lbs
2-5 years
Stray at Lake Worth Shelter
Brindle and White - Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
POSITIVE AND WILL BE TREATED BEFORE ADOPTION! Treated 6/2 should be ready to go by 7/2!
CATS - not tested and in a foster home without cats
Children - Ok with kids over 7
House trained - Pretty much with a few slips
Other Dogs - Good
SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
Beringer is a great little guy – he gets along well with both my dominate female BT and my more
laid back boy. He has adapted to our routine quickly. Barry gets along well with my roommate’s boys
(ages 10 & 12) and would play with them constantly if I’d allow it. Unfortunately he needs to stay
pretty calm while he is undergoing HW treatment so I have to remind them not to play to hard or toO
long. This afternoon the boys were throwing his big soccer ball into the doggie pool and he had a
great time jumping in to get it out.
BErry does have the habit of jumping (and he can jump high) and will bounce off your legs if you are
standing or he will try to jump and hit your face with his mouth to give you a kiss if you are
sitting. For this reason I wouldn’t suggest real young children for him. We are working to correct
that behavior. But slowly, as BErry also will cower and roll on his back if too harshly corrected.
(All correction is vocal, turning my back when standing or by blocking access to my face when
sitting) When called he will come running, but if he thinks you are going to put him in his crate
or ask him to do something he doesn’t really want to do he gets very submissive and rolls over.
BErry figured out how to use the doggie door quickly and does 98% of his business outside. Every once
in a while he forgets himself and will try to mark in the house but if you see him doing it and yell
“AYE stop that” he puts that leg down fast. Twice daily walks seem to be helping as they give him
plenty of new places to mark.
Barry has learned that a walk or ride is in the offering when I go to the dresser to pull out the
harnesses. All the dogs come running when they hear that drawer open up. He bounces around
when you are trying to put the harness on him but once he is in it he runs straight to the front
door and does a little dance. He walks well on leash and unless he sees a cat or squirrel he doesn’t
pull. Since I walk three dogs at a time it is really nice to have a boy who doesn’t try to pull or
weave around and tie me up into knots. Barry has met several of my neighbors and likes them all;
he doesn’t know any strangers.
Barry has learned to sit for treats; when I offered him a bite of my steak tonight he sat without
my telling him to. I’m also working on teaching him to lie;down” for a treat as well as to;wait&;
when we come to intersections.
He will bark if he sees or hears someone outside the house (or when my bedroom door is closed if he
hears someone moving around inside) so he’ll make a great little ;watch” dog. He will quiet down
pretty quickly once you acknowledge his efforts. I think this is a good thing except when I’m trying
to take a nap and my roommate’s sons are moving around the house.
Berry will start out the night sleeping on the bed with us, but will usually ask to get out of the
room in the middle of the night and after a trip outside he will spend the rest of the night either
on the dog bed in the room or on the couch in the livingroom. I'd say likes being with his people,
but is willing to go spend some time alone too.
UPDATE: 6/28/09 - He appears to be house trained to the doggie door now. I've not caught him lifting
a leg in the house in a couple of weeks; he has never done a poop in the house. He does NOT like
moterbikes, scooters or bicycles - he barks and tries to chase him. Cars an trucks do not get his
attention.
He does bark when people walk by the house or when people approach us when we are out walking. He
likes to warn people to stay away from his "momma". If I pick him up he immediately quiets down. I'm
trying to get him to "hush" when I tell him to but.... that hasn't progressed very far. He has
learned to sit when asked and if he is jumping on me I ask him to sit and he will.... I'm so proud of
him.
Last night I didn't realize the outside garage door was open (mary ann had just come in) and I opened
the door to check on the laundry and out Berry went - at a FAST run. I'm happy to say he came back
to me when I called him. But... I'm sorry to say it appears that someone used to call him to them
and then hit him when he came - he comes but he cowers and/or rolls on his back ears down, head ducked.
He used to do it every time I called him to come in to bed too. So now I just get a couple treats out
and let him smell them and say "come on lets go to bed" and walk with him to the room. I'm trying to
make coming to me a safe thing to do.
He loves attention and will bounce on and off my lap if I let him. He wants to give lots of kisses on
my face which I'm trying to discourage; I just push him away and say 'no kiss'. He and ginger will
occasionally play tug; Bud will play tug sometimes but Berry has learned not to bother him if he (bud)
growls; I do break up games of tug as I think that is too much activity for him.]
Berry may need to go to a home that has girly dogs and not boys; he and Bud do get in an occasional spat.
I think he'd be happy with one other dog to play with; but he really craves people attention.
Whereever Berry goes he NEEDS a slightly deflated Soccer ball. He carries that ball all over the yard,
fortunately he has not figured out how to get it through the doggie door as he and Bud both mark on it too.

VET HOLD!
Male
17-20 lbs
5-8 years old
Owner surrender at Fort Worth Shelter
Black and White - Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
POSITIVE AND WILL BE TREATED BEFORE ADOPTION! HIs Treatment is scheduled
for 6/29 and he should be ready to go around 7/28.
CATS - OK
Children - not tested
House trained - working on it
Other Dogs - Good
SPECIAL NEEDS? Bad Patellas
Just picked up 6/19 - won't be vetted until next week which is why notes above are a little sketchy.
This boy was an owner surrender with no reason given. At least we know his name and he seems to respond to it.
so he will keep his name. He is a pretty faced boy with wall eyes, who makes a cute little face when his toofer
gets caught on his lip. We tried to catch it on the camera, but
couldn't. He is very friendly with people and the other dogs. He is very glossy black fur. It is a bit coarse and
there are spots of hairloss probably due to a flea allergy. He was covered in fleas and we popped a capstar in him.
He is a bit humpy, but he still has all his male parts, but they will be gone next week.
Bernie walks bowlegged which Jim mentioned to me right away. I believe that he has bad patellas, but the vet will
tell us for sure. He doesn't seem to be in pain so we will not do a patella surgery on him since that is
elective surgery. We can spend that money to help other dogs instead.
This is a quiet, laid back guy who wants to be loved. He seems to be fairly good on the leash. He Likes to ride and
seems to be crate trained as he didn't make a peep on the way home in the crate. Bernie is a sweetheart who needs
someone to love him and be his buddy.

Bramble
VET HOLD!
Male
21 lbs
2-4 years
Stray at Dallas Shelter
Black and White - Mismarked Half white face
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - OK
Children - not tested
House trained - working on it
Other Dogs - Good but a little testy with my Boxer Teddy
SPECIAL NEEDS? Has an injured elbow
Here is what Jim has to say about him, Quote: Got a call from Wanda
late this morning asking if I could
snatch a dog from the Dallas Animal Services facility. A
Boston with an injured leg, so of course I went dashing
over there. Bramble is a male, (unaltered), and has some
dealio with his left front leg - the brief vet note from the shelter
said that it appeared not to be a break, but a ligament
injury and he should be on 100mg Rimadyl. We'll await Dr.
Cindy's assessment, and hopefully xrays to ascertain the woes.
It doesn't hinder him from getting around, though he does have
a bit of a limpy, gimpy walk.
What a cuddle monkey! He just loved tummy rubs and
scratching behind the ears, and when I'd stop, he'd roll
over on his back in the booster seat and wriggle and writhe
until I'd start up again - obviously starved for attention and lovin'.
Wanda's notes: This is a very sweet loving boy. He does not like to be crated
and WILL chew his way out of a plastic kennel in short order. How do I know you ask?
Well on the way home from the vet, he got out of the kennel I put him in for transport.
I thought I hadn't latched it good, but when I pulled it out there was a hole in the back
of the kennel where he had chewed out. So if you crate him, you will have to have a
STURDY wire crate. But he is good and not destructive out of the crate so you
probably wouldn't have to crate him.
Bramble is good with the other dogs. My Boxer Teddy who you know boxes the other dogs with
his foot irritates him and he will fuss at him, but when I tell them to knock it off they do.
Bramble would make someone a good companion. He likes to go for rides and be with his
people. I will update once we get him into the vet to see about his elbow.

CAR BOMB aka THE BOMB
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Male
28 lbs
2 years/months old
OS at Houma Louisiana Shelter
Black and White - Mismarked Splash
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - GOOD
Children - Good
House trained - Yes
Other Dogs - Good with SUBMISSIVE dogs
SPECIAL NEEDS? Allergies
This is what my volunteer Tom who pulled him and temporary fostered
him for a few days had to say about the Bomb, QUOTE:
Here are the details on Cupcake:
He was surrendered to the shelter by his owner who has a terminal
illness. The shelter said that she had only had him a couple of
months. No details on the previous owner.
Mostly white with black spots. Cute little curly tail. ~30 lbs. I'm
guessing ~5 y/o. Seems to be outside potty trained. Gets along great
with Hugh. Doesn't run away. Neutered. Minor skin issues. Eats
good. People dog. Loves to snuggle. Playful. Sits, fetches and
tugs. His gastro system is very active or he's been eating a lot of
beans.
The only things that I notice that may need attention are his minor
skin issues. The previous owner said that she fed him only IAMS lamb
food. Other food led to bad skin/coat problems. He needs a new name
badly. Cupcake doesn't fit at all. If you're still naming after
cocktails, he's more like Car Bomb or Hand Grenade.
He's going to make a wonderful pet for someone. He'll fit in at a new
home quickly and comfortably.
He is an awesome
dog. Playful, laid back, always does his business outside, doesn't
run away, follows me everywhere, loves everyone he meets, sleeps like
a rock and is cute as hell. I'll be surprised if he doesn't get
hijacked before he gets to Wanda.
(A FEW DAYS LATER) Housekeeping items: His skin seems better, but he
still itches a bit. His shedding is much improved. He's been eating
Science Diet Beef (half wet/half dry). He eats good but throws up a
little bit once in a while. I suspect it's a change in food plus he
eats so fast. His paw pads seemed red and tender when I got him and
he licked them a lot, especially the fronts. I've been putting OTC
cordizone on the bottoms once a day and they seem better. He's had
a good bath and frontline flea treatment. He's been around several
dogs without a problem. He loves to play and run. He rides good in
the car without a crate although he wanted to help me drive.
End of Quote.
HEre is what Nancy another one of my volunteers and temporary foster had
to say about him, QUOTE: He is a very cool dog. We made it back to
Alexandria without incident. He is just a big sweet baby. I really
don't think he is much more than a puppy. And, he's so big. I think
he is half Frenchie but Paul doesn't agree with me. Regardless,
this boy is going to be scooped up quickly to someone very lucky. I
know it was hard for Tom and his beautiful daughter to let him go. End of quote.
Here is what his foster mom who was planning to adopt him Denise had to
say about the Bomb, QUOTE: This dog is the best! He is so playful, yet
so cuddly. He seems to get along with all of mine so far. He loves
Mallory and follows her everywhere. He found a toy and just played
and played last night. I just love him!
Then a few weeks later she states, He is really affectionate and loves
to snuggle with his person. He wants
to be close to you when you are watching TV or hanging out. He loves to
play with toys and will bring the toy back for you to throw it again!
He loves to outside and is great on a leash. Went for long walks and
he never pulls ahead of you. He is crate trained and slept in his crate
at night. Very sweet, loving dog. he just did not like Puffin and Cooper
for some reason. I really think he needs to be the only dog or maybe in a
smaller pack. He loves to play with people but did not seem to know how
to play with the dogs. When Cooper would get a toy, he would go after it,
Cooper would growl and then a fight would ensue. I hope he gets adopted
fast. He is such a love. Mallory cried herself to sleep last night and
I cried as well. He is missed. End of QUOTE.
Wanda's notes: Bomb is great with submissive get along with everyone dogs.
He is not so great with in your face dogs like Cooper and Puffin. Since I
adopted Denise both those dogs, I can say that they were usually the
ones that started the fights when I had them. The in your face dogs are his
trigger. Other than that and allergies, this boy is gonna make someone a
fantastic dog. I think he would do well in a home as a only dog which was
what he was before he came into our group or with a submissive female.

CATS - scared of my cat when he hissed at her
Children - OS said good with kids, but... I haven't had her around any
House trained - owner said housetrained, I say mostly
Other Dogs - good with males, can be testy with females
SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
This little one was scared spitless at the shelter and doesn't do well with
changing enviornments. She has probalby never been out of her home before. She was
kinda growly and snappy at first about everything new. Chiquita needs someone who
is willing to go slow and earn her trust rather than snatching her up without any
warning to pick her up and throwing her
in a crate or car or wherever. Once you have earned her trust she is a sweet and loving
little girl who talks to you when she wants some
attention if you are on the computer ignoring her. She will be a challenge, but well
worth the time and attention she will need to settle into a new routine and home.
The owner's surrender paperwork says she is good with kids. I Personally would not put her
with kids since she doesn't do too well with change. BUT... when I introduced her to Tux
one of my outside cats, she was real interested in him until he hissed at her and then she
backed up real quick. So it just may be that she needs time to acclimatize before she is
introduced to kids.
This is a compact little girl and she is good on the leash. IF you are willing to work with this
baby she will make someone a great pet, but she will require some effort on your part.

Dutch was OS becuase they couldn't afford him. He needs some groceries. His family

This is a very happy playful Boston terrier. He is good with the other dogs here. He
needs some groceries as you can see in his photos. HE is gentle and playful, but he is
very energetic as most young Bostons are. He needs to go to obedience training to bond with

DOB 8/17/2007 so not quite 2 years old
Owner Surrender
Black, Brindle and White - Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!!
CATS - will chase to play
Children - Good
House trained - Yes per the owner
Other Dogs - good
SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time, other than keeping him in the house with his people so
he doesn't get bored outside and try to dig out of a good fence.
I got a plea for help from a owner who wants to place her dog in a safer home. Here is what she told me:
QUOTE: We have a vinyl fence and cannot keep him in the yard. He is small enough to go under the fence or
between the post and fence panels. We have lined the fence with landscaping bricks, tried using the lattice
edging and tried using red pepper to discourage him. We have not been able to keep him in and we are afraid
he will get ran over as he is getting more bold in his outings when he gets out. The beagle and him work
together to dig where there is not a brick to block and then he gets out and runs thru the neighborhood.
We are very concerned that he will get ran over and we don't want that to happen to such a wonderful baby.
He has not gotten out of the chain link fence at my Mom's or the wooden fence at my Mother in law's so
those types of fence would contain him however, our homeowner's association will not allow any fencing
but vinyl fencing. We have spend hundreds of dollars trying to keep him in and cannot afford to do
anything else.
He is very good with other dogs. We have a Beagle that is just a little younger than him that he has grown
up with and they play together very well. We have also taken him to the dog park in our neighborhood and
he always played well with others and is not aggressive. When we first got him as a puppy we had 3 cats and
he was good with them. He would chase them trying to play
but never tried to bite them.
He is very good with children. We have 3 children that he is around alot and he has never been aggressive
or bit any of them. The children are 8,10 and 11. He has been around children since we got him so at the
time he came to us the kids were 6,8, and 9. He has also been around neighborhood kids that are from 18mos
to 4years and never did anything but lick them. He does jump up when he gets excited so he does sometimes
scratch but only accidently. He is not human aggressive at all. He never meets a stranger and always runs
up to be petted when he gets out. That is how the people that find him can check his collar and call us.
He is housebroken. He lived inside full time until we moved into our new house in March 08. He now lives
outside most of the time. The reason we cannot bring him and let him run loose more is that he sometimes
throws up when he gets too excited after drinking alot of water. We have followed what the Vet and Breeder
told us and it still happens. He is always brought in during the hot hours of the day and stays in a kennel
until the weather is cool enough for him to go back outside. He also stays in a kennel in the house at night.
He is very good in a crate. We crate trained him from the time we got him. He typically stays in the crate
for 4 to 6 hours in the day and stays in the crate for 8 to 10 hours at night.
He can dance and he loves to fetch. He will play fetch until he can no longer stand up if you don't stop
him. He also loves to play tug of war. He usually doesn't bark unless he hears a noise. He is not an
excessive barker. He does dig some but since we have both the beagle and him out back I am not sure
who is digging for him to get out. I think it is the beagle since she usually has mud up her paws but
I believe he digs as well just not bad. He loves to chew and will chew up any paper or other items left
around him. He is very happy with a bone and it keeps him content for hours. He has never chewed the
furniture or carpet but has chewed up his toys and the kids if they are left down and he gets bored. I
have found that a natural chew stopping spray I got at petco has prevented him from chewing the beagle's
collar as that was always his favorite thing to do when they were kenneled together.
He has the cutest smile. He loves to give kisses and sit in your lap. It seems that he is smiling when
he looks at you. He holds a very special place in our hearts because we almost lost him to puppy phnemonia
when we first got him. He was very sick but the breeder took him for a few weeks and got him back
completely healthy. We couldn't believe how great he looked when we got him back. He is very special
in that without our breeder's commitment to getting him well he would not have made it past a few months old.
Our main concern is him getting out when we are not home and getting ran over. END OF QUOTE.
Wanda's note: I will be picking this boy up on Sunday Father's day. I will take him to the vet next week and give you
an update, but this boy sounds like a wonderful dog.

Dexter
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
A
Male
14 lbs
8-11 months old
Found surrendered to Vet
Black Brindle and White - Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - ok
Children - seems to be ok
House trained - WORKING ON IT
Other Dogs - eager to play, but over enthusiastic for some dogs
SPECIAL NEEDS? Has a luxating pattella in back left leg, but gets around, and runs around, just fine without
any signs of pain. Also has a slight case of demodectic mange and has been given Promeris to treat about a
week ago (once should be enough to treat it, very slight case).
I got an email last week about a woman who found a boston, tried to find the owner, had no luck and then took
him to the vet. I contacted the vet and let them know I would take this baby. When I went to pick him up one of the
girls in the office had decided she wanted to adopt him and took him home. Then she contacted me this week stating
he was lonely at her house and needed some Boston company.
This is what she told me about Dexter. QUOTE: Thanks for being willing to find Dexter a good home. He's been a
joy to have around, but he'll fit best in a home with other dogs. He's come out of his shell a lot, but we're
not around other dogs enough to fill his need. Heres the info you requested: Dexter is a very sweet boston. He
loves to be around other dogs and plays well with them. He has been exposed to cats and works well with them.
He has shown signs of wanting to be around kids. Everytime a kid is close by during a walk, he is very enthusiastic
to go and meet them. He has learned lots of new commands! He enjoys his ball and loves to chew on his bone in the
spare time he's not sleeping and snoring. So cute! End of quote.
Wanda's notes: Paperwork says 2 months old, girl from vets office says 1.5 years, I think he looks and acts more
like he is about 8-11 months old. I will have Dr. Cindy check him out next week and see what she thinks his age is.
The pads on his paws are a bit worn down due to being out on his own. He can use a few groceries, but he is a growing
boy as well as having been a lost boy. Vet paperwork says he has a luxating patella. I don't see that he has a problem
with running or jumping, he does hold it up occassionally when it pops out of place, but we will not do surgery on it,
since he doesn't seem to be in any pain from it. They say he has demodex, but I don't
see any hair loss and they treated with promeris, so that should have taken care of any issues.
This is a very playful and happy boy. He doesn't seem to know how to play with other dogs well and is very in
their face, (see pix with my older frenchy) but after a week or so here at my house, my dogs will teach him a few manners. I wouldn't suggest he be
placed with an older dog. He needs a playmate who will run and interact with him. He is very people friendly and
has that wonderful Boston temperament we all look for in a Boston. This one is a keeper and whoever adopts him IF they
take the time to train him, will have an excellent dog. HE is smart and learns quickly. He has learned the doggie door
already to get in and out. Nice nice dog with a great future ahead of him.

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
Yesterday when I had gone to Coppell to evaluate a biting dog, when I
came out of the shelter, there was a message from my friend Millie who
walks Mesquite shelter saying there was an owner surrender boston who
was given up because she submissive messes and gets out of their yard.
I was worried I couldn't get there before they closed so Millie pulled
her for me and I had to drive farther as she had things already scheduled
for this evening. So I picked up a new little sweet girl that I am gonna
name FloraDora as she just has that sweet kinda personality.
Flora rides well in the car and in a crate. She is happy for attention and is
not obnoxious about trying to get some attention. She is bright and perky and interested
in all that is going on. She was facinated by my goats as you can see in that one
pix of her with her ears all perked up. Flora is a little on the chunky side,
but looks pretty good compared to a lot of dogs we get. She has the cutest little tipped
over ears. This one is special!

Available for Adoption!
Available For The Senior For Senior
Program
Female
14 lbs.
7 years
Stray at Austin Shelter
Black and White Spayed
Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Positive and has been treated and
is ready
to go to a new home!
This sweet little girl was picked up by Pug rescue in Austin and I was contacted to take
her. We
did xrays on her back end due to her walking really funny. Poor old Gertie has been shot
in the
rear end. Cindy said that she had a big pellet deep in the muscle that she didn't want to
dig for
and make her more sore since it wasn't causing her any problems. She does have very bad
patellas,
but is not in any pain from them as she doesn't limp just walks bowlegged as heck. since
she is
not hurting we are not gonna do any surgery on them. Her hip joints are a little bit
wonky as
well. She was also in HEAT!!! Poor old girl. She Won't ever be in heat again that I can
tell
you. :) Gertie is a sweet girl who loves to get attention. She is good with the other
dogs.
UPDATE 5 1/15/08 - Per
Danielle,
Gertie's foster momma - Well,
our
little old lady has got some heart problems. Ever
since her 'Big Adventure', Gertie's breathing has been sounding more raspy and rattling.
This
morning, she had what I thought was a seizure - she went stiff for a couple seconds, and
then
limp and her bladder emptied all over the bed and my sleeping husband! Poor girl! We
got her up
to Dr. Cindy this afternoon, and the xrays showed an enlarged heart and congestion in her
chest.
We're starting her on some Lasix and Enalapril to see if that helps. Dr. Cindy did an
ECG and
found that there are some times when her little heart is just forgetting to *fire* and
that may
account for the 'seizure' activity.
Despite her awful breathing, Gertie's energy level hasn't waned...in fact, she's seemed
more
active. She romps around like a nut with the pug puppy, and lets everyone know she's
still in
charge of any chew toys around. She seems happy and content still, so I hope this
medicine will
help give her a continued good quality of life for as long as she's got. She's a
precious little
girl. I told Wanda that it just KILLS me the way Gertie has been hacking and coughing
and
wheezing ALL weekend....and her breathing was just perfect today when we saw the doctor.
It's
like taking your car to the mechanic!

and was all over Paul and then to the back seat and then back to Paul and more whining.
This went on all the way past Grapevine. We think she was looking for Wanda, although
neither Theo nor Madori acted that way. I guess Honey has just had a lot of people
changes in the last 48 hours.
Anyway, she settled down on a pillow and went to sleep just past Grapevine and slept on
and off the rest of the way. We made a stop at Petsmart, I went in and Paul said she
looked for me the whole time, he stayed in the van with her, he didn't feel like going
in.
She seemed to love smelling all around the back yard, did her thing and we went in. Lots
more looking around. Paul fed her, she didn't want just dry food so he put some chicken
on it and she ate it all up. While we ate she laid between our chairs, did not beg. GOOD
GIRL!
After we did the dishes I decided to give her a bath; she did not want to go in, but with
a little help from me she went in.
She is now asleep on a pillow in the den. just wanted to tell you all that she is OK and
I think she feels loved.

SPECIAL NEEDS? Hit by a car, do not know extent of her injuries
American Boston Terrier Rescue has taken custody of a

This poor baby girl is suffering and needs our help.
Won't you please consider pledging just $10 to help this puppy have a chance at getting well? ABTR
is committed to doing all we can for her, but as you know with this being the 3rd urgent need dog,
we have gotten in the last 5 weeks, our resources have been stretched extremely thin. We really
need your help to give this precious girl the chance she deserves to get well.
Her vetting has already been estimated at being $3000 plus, so we're extremely grateful for each and every

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
THis is what Kim who picked her up from the shelter had to say about her. Quote: Picked up
the cutest little thing ever today!! My scale says she weighs just under 7 lbs..!! I thought
Twinkles was small...this girl is the smallest Boston I have ever seen!! She is super sweet
and chased me, yes chased me all over my backyard!! Too cute!! She has several patches of
missing hair but will be beautiful when it all grows back in!!! LOVE HER!! End of Quote.
Karen Koolata is a happy sounding name and she is a very happy little girl. I did shorten it to
Kiki as the other was a mouthful. She responds to that and little girl. Kiki is a very Nervous
little girl and we will not ship her! You will have to come in person
to pick her up if you are approved to adopt. This little one is a sweet girl. She does not like
to be picked up and cuddled so she is always trying to get out of your arms. She does not want to
sleep on the bed with you. Being on the bed makes her nervous and she is anxious to get down.
She is happy doing her own thing putzing around the house. She is
happy to follow you around and dances when you talk to her. She is good with the other dogs and
a lot of cats are bigger than she is so we haven't tested her with the cats. She is not housebroken,
but it is easy to clean up after her. She is very small and I will NOT put her in with anyone who has
small children.

This is the plea that I got about this sweet old boy "Luke is a boston terrier
mix. He is 11 1/2 years old.
His owner no longer wants him and will put him
down at the end of the day. Can anyone help him? end of quote. This boy looks a lot
like my Mr. Stubbiins who passed last year so I didn't want to turn him down.
This is what Jim said about him. Quote: what an angel - he just curled
up in the rear bucket seat with his chin on the armrest and rested
the whole way - he wasn't even interested in Mesquiter, who kept
peeking back at him for awhile. end of quote
Luke is a very sweet dog who just wants to have a comfortable place to lay down and snooze,
get some loving and go for rides. He loves to ride and if you get the leash out he is ready
to go. He is house trained and goes in and out my doggie door without any problems. He is
ok with the cats. If someone is just wanting a buddy to pal around with and keep you company,
this is the boy for you. HE is low maintenence compaired to some of the bouncing off the walls
Bostons. Yet he is not decrepit and on his last legs. This boy is just about perfect to me other
than he is a bit leary of being petting on top of his head so is a bit head shy other than that,
I don't have any issues with Luke. He came with that name and we did not change it.
Luke has had a few seizures I think they were, but am taking him to the vet next week to make sure.

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
Major Tom is a big boy, but he is oh so sweet and laid back. I love this boy!!!
His favorite thing is snoozing
in the chair. He is good with other dogs, although not too fond of my Boxer Teddy whapping
him in the face with his big feet. Major Tom tested good with cats and basically ignored my cats
when he was introduced to them. He is a sweet boy who likes to go for rides, get attention and cuddle.
Major Tom was a craigslist dog with his sister and she got adopted, but he did not. I suppose cause he is
a bigger Boston.
He is house and crate trained. This dog is a great dog and whoever adopts him is gonna
love him cause he is an easy keeper dog and not bouncing off the walls like some of the other Bostons. Major
Tom follows me around and loves to sniff around out in the grass. He sleeps on the dog bed at the foot of my bed.
He listens to me and just wants to be a good boy and he is a very good boy. For you that are not hung up on size,
I am telling you that you are missing out on a great dog, if you don't check this boy out. If I didn't have so
many dogs this one would stay here forever.

Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - ok
Children - not tested here, but owner had kids
House trained - working on it
Other Dogs - good
SPECIAL NEEDS? LONG HAIR - regular grooming and haircuts!
This is what Martha has to say about Max. Quote:
he is a real cutie - and will look great when his hair grows back in and he heals up
from all the cuts that the imbedded burrs made in his poor tummy. The shelter shaved
him as he had really matted fur. He got along with everyone - even HRH Ginger.
Sweet boy. Didn't really understand the harness and walking on a leash but found
the food bowl right away and started chowing down. He was a little short on groceries. End of quote.
Wanda's notes: This is a sweet little guy considering that he must be in some kinda pain
from the embbedded grass awns (seedheads) that are all over his body because the idiot owners
didn't bother to brush them out of his coat or cut his hair so he was a matted mess. Awns
burrow in deeper and deeper and deeper if
you don't get them out and if they burrow in the wrong place can cause major damage. Dr.
Cindy spent several hours digging them out of him and she thinks
she got them all. Some of them were in there so long that his body had liquified them and they weren't
burrowing any deeper. Some of them were not just the awns, but stems up to 4 inches long. He had
a LOT of them on him and under his skin. His sores from them are looking much better now that they
have been dug out.
We will watch to see if any other places pop up as infected, but I am thinking we got them all.
Max came with that name and seems to know it. This is a very sweet boy who follows you around closely and lays
under your legs when you are on the computer chair. He needs a bit of work on housebreaking, but goes
in an dout of the doggie door fairly well now. Max doesn't like to be separated from his momma when I go
on the other side of the doggie gate, he complains by barking. We are working on that. This is a sweet
and loving boy who was neglected shamefully along with his boston mix companion. Both were in desparate need
of groceries as well as the other signs of neglect we have mentioned.
Max will need daily brushing and a haircut about every 6 weeks, so please figure that in before you place an app
to adopt him. Max just wants to be someone's sweet little foofoo lap baby dog. Is that what you are looking for?
If so, then Max may be the guy for you.

Mesquiter

CUTE TERRIER MIX

Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - scared of the cats as they are bigger than she is.
Children - not tested
House trained - seems to be trained if you take her out regularly

SPECIAL NEEDS? Lactating mom needs to dry up
I got a note on my allbreed rescue list showing pix of this cute little
underbite girl and I was smitten even though she isn't a boston. The note
stated " was found, a
nursing mom and no pups Her bite
is a little off, that is not a smile. those nails are horrible. She probably
weighs 6 to 8 lbs, a pound or two of that is udder weight."
Here is what Jim has to say about Mesquiter. QUOTE: Well Gang,
She sure is a cute little pistol - all 7.5 pounds of her! Thankfully
I had one teenyweeny collar in Velma's trunk that fit this one,
since all the Boston sized ones are too darn big. I have to walk
her on the patio with a leash, since she could just walk right
through the fence rails, without touching either side! She is pretty
skinny and should have a pound or two of groceries
added over time. She gulped down a CapStar buried in 3 forkfuls
of canned food, so good appetite (and this was about Noon).
Gets along great with 4 of my furkids. She got a bath and did very
well, but someone will probably need
to have her groomed. I didn't want to clip or snip anything, though
she looks a trifle bedraggled. I did manage to snip off the long tips
of her nails, which she did NOT like, but they're no longer saber claws.
Cleaned her ears, which had virtually no junk, just a little bit in
the left ear.
There was no specific age estimation on her kennel card, which
just said "adult", but the shelter worker guessed maybe 4 years old.
She has the cutest underbite and her teefers are always on display -
makes her look menacing (well, at least as menacing as 7.5 pounds can be),
but this is just her "look". Very sweet little thing, and she FLIES up and down
the stairs, vaults on chairs, sofas etc., so she's able to get where she wants
with no problem.
Her udder is amazing Not sure what should be done to
a lactating female with no puppies, but we'll leave that up to Wanda and Roie.
Haven't thought of a name, so am just calling her Mesquiter for now.
This goofy dog is so darn sweet and so little trouble, I will really
miss her and her teefers. She just blended so seamlessly with my crazy crew and our routine,
and she even does the "Go to the bed" with the others as part of
my training protocol, and seems to understand "sit" when I give
her a treat... pretty good considering I've been working weeks on
my own dogs to do these things, and she picked it up in no time.
She stays close to me, but not hovering, and has never tried to
escape the fence (though I keep an eagle eye on her just the same),
even though she could walk right through, as tiny as she is.
Still haven't heard a peep out of her, so she is very quiet, though
loves attention and to be cuddled - especially to have her belly
and breasticles scratched and petted. Great sleeper too - just
curls up on the bed and doesn't move or feel the need to touch me.
Incredible appetite, and she puts away as many groceries as the others
who weigh more than twice her bulk - I don't know where she puts it.
She finally did a pee and poop last night and again this morning, so
that was a relief to know she can do those things.
Here she is napping with Tootsie yesterday afternoon.
Sorry to see her go, END of QUOTE.

BOXER
Female
47 lbs
2-3 years old

Good markings
Classic Brindle Black mask
Spayed
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
POSITIVE and will have to have treatment before adoption!!!
CATS - NO CATS!
Children - VEry good with kids, foster has 3 year old.
House trained - Trained to the doggie door at my house and is housetrained at Kims house.
Crate trained - yes
Other Dogs - Good
SPECIAL NEEDS - None
This is what the shelter told me quote: She is a two year old female Boxer who we
found tied
to the flag pole in front of our shelter one morning. She is a good girl who gets along
with other
dogs, does well on a leash and has good manners. She has no vaccination history that we
know of,
and she is also in heat right now.
Wanda's Update: Midori was left tied to their flag pole and got loose and they tried to
catch her
for 5 days before she got hungry enough to come up. She was in full nasty heat. Other
than that
we really have no details. This is a VERY nice Boxer girl. She is very well muscled. She
is
smaller than she looks in the pix. They say she is about 2- 3 years old and put her in
at 2.5
years on paperwork. She is GORGEOUS!!! Even if she is that Brindle I don't like.
She didn't try to pull me down on the leash. She was ready to jump right in the van
into the
crate so she has been crate trained. With a bit of time and training this girl is gonna
make
someone an excellent Boxer. She is real happy to be getting some attention. She does NOT
know how
to use the doggie door and it is too damn cold to teach her tonight. But I think she
will pick it
up quickly. She seems real eager to please me.
There has been a little rumbling from her at the other dogs, but when I say Dori no, she
shuts up.
IT is very overwhelming at my house with 20 little and big dogs sticking their noses up
your
behind if you are a dog and if you have been in heat, you don't want nobody messing with
that
behind for a while. She doesn't seem to be real food aggressive either. Grumbled a
little when
she was scarfing it down and dogs were sniffing her behind that could have been the butt
sniffing
eliciting the growls to keep off. I was shoveling food in the bowls and she had no
problems with
my hands down near her face to put food in the bowl.
Midori's Foster Momma Kim's Update: Dori is absolutly adorable and as sweet as they
come. We have three other dogs and she hasn't growled or barked at them or with them for
that matter!
She loves to cuddle with you and thinks she is a small lap dog. She is very gentle and
loving with my son and they have quickly become great buddies!
Her appetite has come back the last few days (the first week after her heartworm
treatment she was very lethargic and wouldn't touch her food) and has slowly begun to put
some weight back on.
She is a wonderful dog and we hope her forever home will love her as much as we do!

SPECIAL NEEDS? BLIND!
American Boston Terrier Rescue has taken custody of a
Boston that had a rope embedded into his neck so deeply the shelter sent him to the
vet to have it cut out. This poor boy has a severe infection from the ebedded collar. He also has 2 eyes
that have been severely neglected and are on the verge of rupturing. This poor boy is suffering and
needs our help.
Won't you please consider pledging just $10 to help this neglected/abused little guy get well? ABTR

OLD FITZGERALD aka FITZIE
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Available For The Senior For Senior
Program
Male
13 lbs
10 years old
Stray at GPAS Shelter
Good markings
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Positive, since he is old and in very sad shape, we will be doing the long term heartworm
treatment on this guy so he may not be ready to adopt for 6 months or more!!!
CATS - ok
Children - not tested
House trained - Seems to be to the doggie door
Crate trained - yes
Other Dogs - Good until they try to eat his dinner and he lets them know that is his food
SPECIAL NEEDS - Balance - Arthritis in spinal disc and hip
I noticed immediately when we picked him up that this little guy has something major
going on
with his walking/rear end. HE walks really funny and seems to loose balance and fall
over. He
may have been hit by a car or something. But he manages to get from point A to Point B
and like a
small child he wants to do it himself! It is hard to describe his getting there walk as
it is
kinda on his toes and side ways in a strange gait kinda tottery looking. This poor
little boy is
in SAD shape.
We named him Old Fitzgerald and are calling him Fitzie. He is a very pretty little guy.
Skinny as
hell. I sure hope we can fix him up if not he will stay with us until his time comes.
He is
supposed to be 10 years old per the shelter and a Stray. The vet says "I just looked at
Old
Fitzgerald's Xrays and he has a lot of disc problems and arthritis in his loin area.
Probably
enough in the upper loin to cause his instability. See if etogesic helps but probably he
will
remain with some degree of stiffness and instability." So he will never be "normal", but
he is
still a very affectionate and wonderful little guy. He is a character. When you feed
him and he
is done (fed in separate room so other dogs don't steal his soft food) he will bark until
you come
and let him out. Despite his wierd mobility, he goes in and out the doggie door as he
likes to
sun on the deck in the mornings. He also likes his very soft bed. This boy may not move
normally, but he is normal in every since of the word as far as Boston character and
Boston
lovings. I will only adopt this boy out to someone who loves the old farts as much as I
do.

SPECIAL NEEDS?
We named her Peeps because she has a little arfy bark that she just chirps at you.
Cindy
says Peeps is one of the most neglected and malnoursished dogs ABTR has gotten. She was
a little
doubtful at first if she would survive. It took a while to build her back up. She was
anemic
and had a high white cell count. She was on antibiotics and we had to feed her up for
quite for
a while before she would gain any weight. This little dog is frail. She is the silliest
little
old girl. She just dances for you when you talk to her and she thinks you are gonna give
her some
yummies. Peeps don't have a lick of sense, and she doesn’t see real well, but she
is
always happy even though she forgets she just ate. Can you see that smiling little face?
I swear
if I fed Peeps as often as peeps thought she needed fed, she would look like a blimp.
Peeps only
eats canned food due to her teeth and being just a wee bit senile. .I think she forgets
she just
ate when she starts dancing around asking for dinner right after I have fed her. .Either
that or
she thinks she needs to eat all the time. She is looking good and is not skinny little
scarecrow
like she was when I got her. Peeps is NOT housebroken and will not be as she is senile.
She is
safe here until she passes or until someone sees how wonderful her love of life is to be
around.
NO children under 12 and no big rambunctious dogs will be in Peeps new home. ,

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
This boy was owner surrendered because they couldn't take care of him. He has not
been well socialized and it takes him a little bit to warm up to you. I will tell you
that he is snappy in a crate and at the vets office. I haven't had any problems with
him snapping at me as I was told he did at the shelter. I think he was just scared.
Some of them are like that, if they are frightened they get a little snappy to warn you
off. So... I just want you to know that you have to work with him and have him feeling
comfortable in new situations, not to reach in and treat him like you have been his
best friend for years right off the bat, just in case he gets snappy. He didnt' bite anyone,
just snapped in the air to warn them off.
Petey as i been calling him in a high happy excited voice, loves to jump up on me
to get pets. He is a little scared when your hand comes at him from overhead, but
other than that LOVES to get attention. He is good with the other dogs and seems to get
excited when I pull out the leash and harnesses to take dogs out. I havne't taken him
out riding yet.

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
Here is what Martha has to say about him. QUOTE: He rode like a dream in the car;
mostly looking out the windows and occasionally stepping on the console to put his
nose on my neck. He is afraid of the doggie door because it snaps, but I expect he
will get the hang of it soon. Since he has been living out in the back yard he was
a bit dirty so I popped him into the bath tub which he tolerated and then really
enjoyed rolling on the bath mat and shaking all over me. His muzzle is very red
and looks sore.
Right now he is glued to my leg sleeping - I'm going to have to do some serious
re-arranging of dogs before I can lie down to sleep. Oh My, this little guy is sweet.
I managed to sleep well with three dogs on the bed. Once Baron (i'm gonna call him
that until I hear from wanda) understood I needed him to sleep in a specific
place he settled right in. He got up when I did about 3am and I took him outside
and settled right down in his place on the bed afterward and went right back to sleep.
He is longer in the leg than either ginger or bud and solid muscle. very shiny coat
now that it is clean.
Ginger and Baron were playing chase this morning - Ginger with the toy, Baron trying to
get it - Ginger's favorite game. End of quote.
Wanda's notes: Baron is a great dog. HE is on the larger side, well muscled and wonderful
brindle coloration. Baron loves attention and is very attentive to you. I can take him out in the
field with me working and he hangs around and explores. HE does chase my outside cats so no \
cats for him. HE plays well with my Bostons and Teddy my boxer. Although at times he and Teddy
get too serious playing and I have to break them up. So I think he would do better with female
buddies or Boston only not big dog buddies. He sits. He likes to ride in the car and is just
an all around good boy. He is a bit nervous when you crate and transport him, so we will not
transport a long distance. You will have to come and get him.

Sadie
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Female
45 lbs and gaining
14 years old
Stray Jonesboro Shelter
Good markings
Spayed
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Negative!!!
CATS - No cats as she will chase if she is feeling playful!
Children - OK with older kids
House trained - seems to be trained to the doggie door
Crate trained - yes
Other Dogs - Good as long as they don't try to hump her.
SPECIAL NEEDS - Arthritis in the back hips and spine and age.
This morning I get woken up by a phone call from the ACO in Jonesboro
telling me he has 2 other Bostons if I would take them as well as the
one Annie was supposed to pick up today that Casey was gonna temp foster
in Little Rock until I could get there. As we talked
about paperwork, vetting etc, he mentioned that he had a 14 year old
boxer in bad shape, but he just didn't have the heart to put her down.
I told him I would ask around and see if I could find someone to take
her. Posted to my lists about her. After thinking about it and getting
a few I wish I coulds I decided I couldn't let her stay there and if she
was dog friendly I would bring her here to stay with me. I would give
anything to have my 14 year old Bruce back again. So Contacted
Annie and she was ok with picking up all 4 of the babies. She drove
from Helena to Jonesboro, through Little Rock to Texarkana and back
today for me. I say "THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH Annie!!!
Oh and Jonesboro is a DREAM shelter to work with. Very nice ACO's who
are concerned about the animals and want to do what is best for them as
well as being very rescue friendly. KUDOS to this shelter for being
kind hearted enough not to immediately put an obviously starved dog down
and giving her special foods and meds in an attempt to help her get well
enough to adopt or that a rescue group would take. Thank you!! There
are very few shelters that do that. Most of the time, injured and sick
animals are immediately euthed here in Texas by a lot of the shelters, but
luckily not all of them.
They were calling the boxer Sadie at the shelter so she will be my Sadie
the old lady. LOL She is in very very sad shape. Emaciated with that
starving child look you see on TV. A bit wobbly in the behind and had
trouble getting in the van. The spirit was willing, but the flesh was
weak. There is no muscle there. The shelter said she had gained about
a third of what she was since they picked her up in the first part of
January. She must have been skin and bones cause she sure ain't fat
now weighing in around 39 lbs. I was told that the ACO got a call
about a dead dog in the park.
They went to pick it up and found Sadie the old lady Boxer laying there.
She couldn't get up so they thought she might have been hit by a car.
But if she was as skinny as what they said, then she probably didn't
have enough energy to get up and no muscles to do so either. They have
been feeding her canned food and guessed her to be 14 years old. I ain't
guessing, I will let Dr. Cindy do that. They said that when you try and
pick her up she growls at you. That is a possibility since she may have
been hit by a car and has suffered an injury that may be painful to her
and she don't want to have extra pain. I can tell you that she also
growls at you when you turn on the light in the van and talk to her. I
don't know if that is her way of talking back to me or if she is in pain
or something. She will be at Dr. Cindy's first thing tomorrow for a
looksee and I will get her back on Friday after she has had time to give
her a thorough going over with old dog bloodwork, xrays if she thinks
they are needed etc. Sadie has some awful cropped ears that kinda bend
around funny, but she has a really purty little greyish face. She is a
classic fawn like Bruce so I am very glad she has cropped ears so I
dont' see Bruce's silhouette and cry cause she is not him. Sadie is a
small boxer, I would guess her to be maybe 35-40 lbs at most, but she is
emaciated as can be.
Thanks all for your prayers and good
wishes for the old lady Boxer Sadie. I will have her up on the web pages
trying to raise enough funds to cover her vetting as old dog work ups
are not cheap. She will probably live at my house for the rest of
her life, unless someone reads her story and falls in love with her.
You never know. I have had that happen with old dogs before. :) But she
may be like Faithful and just be here with me until she passes. Either
way is fine, she will be loved.
UPDATE April 2 - Ya'll remember I got 14 year old Sadie from the Jonesboro shelter a few
weeks back? She still looks like she is starving to me, but a few folks
that saw her then and just a few nights ago says she is looking better. :)
She is eating pretty good. I am giving her canned puppy food mixed with a
big scoop of her taste of the wild and she is getting 10 squirts of the
salmon oil as it is fattening and has all kinds of good stuff in there and
her glucosimine and Chondrotin and her pet tabs and her etogesic for
arthritis pain. She is not a morning eater. Whoever had her probably fed
her once a day around 7 or 8 pm as she is ready to eat hearty then. So I
feed her good and hopefully in a few more months she will just look like a
regular old boxer instead of a bag of bones. I keep meaning to take her in
and weigh her, but have so many Bostons going in and out I fergit.
Anyway, on to the story. Today I was loading 14 dogs to go to the vet.
Sadie the old lady is allowed out in the car yard with me cause she don't
chase the cats with intent to kill. When she is feeling her wheaties she
trots after them and then looses interest. I am toting dogs out and crating
them. You have to know that I have 2 sized boston crates for the big and
the little Bostons. Sadie is doing her old lady check out the place and
watch over momma thing putzing around enjoying the sunshine. This continues
on for a while as I get more Bostons loaded. Next time I come out I go to
put a Boston in a small boston crate and what do I see? A Sadie the old
lady all squished up in there. I have no idea how the heck she got in there
and got herself turned around so she could be looking at the world I will
never know as stiff as she is. But this is one Boxer Old Lady that was
bound and determined that SHE was going for a ride too even if she had to
stow away in a too little crate. LOL I was planning on taking her with me
anyway cause she loves to ride and at 14 how many more rides do you get?
UPDATE JUNE 09 - Sadie is still chugging along. She FINALLY doesn't look like
a sack of Bones. She isn't fat, but she has filled out and now weighs almost 50 lbs.
I don't think she will get much heavier than that. She loves to eat and when
she hears me singing Sadie the old Lady song, she starts just a dancing and
a prancing and is ready to head to the bathroom to eat her special dinner in
peace without Bostons trying to steal it. Sadie is a good girl. She guards her
van and makes sure people know you better not EVEN THINK about getting in her van
as she will purse that mouth and growl under her breath at you. It is hysterical.
Sadie loves to ride and goes with me when it is not too hot out. Sadie also likes
to putter around the field and car yard with me. She is my shadow and sleeps right
next to my bed so when I swing my feet down I touch her instead of the floor.
Sadie is a great dog and I am priviledged to be able to help her last year or so
be loved with plenty to eat and lots of rides.

Funny story as I went to pick up a stray male and an owner surrender female
both with tumors at the Gainesville shelter. I picked up the female with tumors and
carried her out. The ACO picked up the male and carried him out and we put them
in crates in the van. When I got home, I took pictures of the dogs. As I was
cropping the pix, I got to looking and this one didn't look like a boy and
those lumps on the underside sure looked like Boobs to me. So ... I had my husband
pick up one dog while I was checking out the other dog. It turns out that we got
2 females!!! We had a good laugh over that and I am sure the ACO will too. They
probably had 10 people in the office and the wrong box got checked. Happens to me
all the time. I take them to hte vet to be neutered and they are already neutered.
So the stray boy turned out to be Gin, a girl.
Anyway this girl is pretty laid back, good with the other dogs. She seems like
she will be a good girl. Gin likes to snooze when I am on the computer. She also
likes to sleep at my feet on the bed. She is ok with cats and just seems to be
an all around good girl. I like her. She has had puppies since she doesn't have
virgin boobs any more, but I do not know how many etc.

SPECIAL NEEDS? None determined at this time.
WE got a note from Rebecca about a little stray in Caddo that needs some help
so we told her we would take him. He was listed as a black and white Boxer. Picked
up as a stray so no history on him.
HEre is what Jim has to say about Tom Collins. Quote: the cutest little guy ever! He
is very timid and shy, and must've either been abused or
had very little contact with humans. He walks along with
his "tail between his legs" (if he had one), in that cowering
way that some dogs do when they've done something bad,
or are fearful of people.
What a sweetheart - curled up and slept the whole way,
occasionally raising his head, which garnered some loving
and behind the ear scratching, which he enjoyed.
His left eye is very cloudy and murky, he still has ticks in
his ears and he's pretty skinny with backbone protruding,
but his coat seems in decent shape, and he has a beautiful
face. A thin scar on the top of his noggin - not sure if it will
ever hair over or not, but it was real tempting to Pull a K!
No mention of his age on paperwork, but he is intact and I
would guesstimate him at about 9 or 10 pounds. Tiny!
He would not pee or poop even after a long walk waiting for
Martha, who got held up doing some auto mechanic work for
her housemate, so I'd bet he was either kept in a crate or
cage and not socialized and certainly never taught how to walk
on leash to do his business. Would suppose he's not housebroken
either.Anyway, he's a real heartbreaker for sure, here he is
Wands's notes: This is a shy little guy who takes time to
warm up to you, but he is sweet and wants to get some
loving and pets. If you want a quiet dog who isn't too
energetic, that appreciates love, then this boy is for you.
I like him a lot. He can stay here as long as he needs to for
me to find the perfect home for him.

CATS - NO CATS!!!
Children - OK with kids 8 and up

SPECIAL NEEDS? Old Injured elbow - limited movement
Here is what the Elisha says about him. QUOTE:
Hello All! I contacted Wanda about a 7 year old male in the shelter, here in Duncan,
OK. I picked him up today...bathed him, trimmed his nails and gave him a little
something for pain. He has an injured leg...the shelter "said" his elbow is dislocated
but it doesn't hurt him. I question that.... Here is what I have found out about him so far...
He is fine with my male mini schnauzer and my very large boxer. He HATES cats and wants to EAT THEM.
Just thought that needed to be in large letters...My cats are hiding out in the bathroom while he
is here. He comes when called but I was told he can climb a chain link fence, even with his hurt
leg. Hummm.... I have 5 and 8 yr old boys (skin-kids) and he loves my 8 year old. However as I would
figure the little one freaks him out. I think he moves to quick for his liking. Who can blame him?!
I'd freak out to, if I was him and a weird little human was running all around the house with a batman
cape and a toy gun. He is a marker but that's fixable...he has a pull-up on for now. ;) I'll break out
the water bottle and take it off when I find the time this evening. His teeth are wore down...Im guessing
from chewing on cage wires but he eats fairly well. I might try to soften the kibble tonight. So that
is him in a nutshell.
Tumbleweeds elbow is an old break and the leg is frozen in place. It has been broken so long that He gets
around well with it held at
the angle that he holds it. He has a small amount of movement in it, but not much. The vet said there is not much
that she can do to fix it other than amputate it and I am not gonna amputate it for asthetic purposes. We removed
the lump that was also on his elbow and sent it off
to the lab to be analyzed. We don't think it is anything to worry about.
Tumbleweeds is a very sweet boy who is friendly to humans and gets along well with the other dogs. He likes to ride
in the car, hops right on in bed with you like he has been here forever, and will make someone a great pet. He
has not attempted to climb my fence since he has been here, but he has other dogs and a house to run in and out of instead
of being locked up in a pen.
UPDATE: Lump was nothing bad just related to the old injury. This boy is ready for a new home.

you would like to contribute to Tumbleweeds 's vet bill, please feel free to use

CATS - No Cats - Barks at them
Children - not tested
House trained - working on it
Other Dogs - very good
SPECIAL NEEDS? DEMODEX
HEre is what Jim has to say about Wally QUOTE "This poor guy is teeming with some skin woe.
His face and body will be gorgeous if he can get over this skin condition, and he seems to
be pretty playful and very sweet - maybe a little mouthy and puppyish, though I have
virtually no concept how old he might possibly be.
He got a capstar and ate a good din-din. He's pooped and peed twice and has soft stool,
but not total dying rears. It was virtually impossible to get him to stand still for
photos, so this is all I have. Considering how bad he looks, maybe we should save
the photo sessions until
he's better...
And to all those who have asked, we have NO info on him other than he
was "abandoned" according to the kennel card. He was marked "sick"
and DNA - Do Not Adopt. They were going to euth him on Monday. His age I will leave
to Wanda and Dr. Cindy.
He does ACT a bit like a puppy - occasionally jumping up, wiggle-butting
and a bit mouthy when playing with me. He allowed all the other dogs to
bark at him from inside for awhile, and then he decided to stand up for
his rights and barked back at them. Naturally, Bijou and Beau were the
worst offenders - lunging at the windows and snarling, and he held his
own in that endeavor, but initially seemed oblivious to their antics, so
I bet he'll get along fine with other dogs if they're amenable to him.
Wanda says, This is a very good boy who plays well with my Boxer boy and any other dog that wants to
play with him. He is looking better slowly but surely. I have included one Bad skin pix and a couple
of good ones so you can see he is doing much better and some hair is starting to fill in. HE still
has a way to go before he is through, but he is working on it. His little tongue pokes out which I think is
real sweet. Wally is a love and will make someone a great dog when we get him all fixed up.

WHITE RUSSIAN AKA RUSS
Available for Adoption!
Male
22 lbs
3 years old
Stray at Saginaw Shelter
Brindle and White - Mismarked - has a haggarty spot
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Postive and has been treated and is ready to go to his new home!!!
CATS - OK With CAts
Children - not tested
House trained - seems to be trained to the doggie door
Other Dogs - Good
SPECIAL NEEDS? Malformed eye!
This is the boy I went and picked up today. HE was a stray. A lady went
out to close her garage door and heard something in there. So when she
looked she found him huddled up hiding behind her waterheater I think the
ACO said. He said that he had fun trying to get him as he was real snappy
at that time too. ACO said he didnt' know if I would take him cause he was
pretty aggressive.
When I walked in he was barking and acting real aggressive at the shelter.
He was in the very back and there were lots of big barky dogs all around
him. I went back out to the truck as I knew this one was gonna take some
time. I got a blanket and my chicken popcorns. The floor was wet so I sat
on the blanket as close to the cage door as I could and started talking to
him and throwing popcorn chicken pieces to land between me and him. He
stopped barking after a little and decided he LIKED chicken. Eventually
after a while he was up at the gate taking the piece out of my hand. When I
opened the gate, he ran to the back and started acting aggressive again.
Then the ACO let the other dogs outside (why didn't he do that in the first
place?) and stepped back so the boston couldn't see him. The dog wouldn't
come up to me and I ran out of chicken. :( So another aco came in and put a
slip leash over his head. I didn't want him to get a bad idea about me so I
didn't throw a leash over his head. Anyway once we got him on the leash he
came out pretty good. I took him on out and put him in a crate in the
truck. Then went back in and filled out paperwork.
Then we headed out to see Dr. Boone over at Dr. Shelly's. Since he was so
aggressive at the shelter we muzzled him. He weighed 22.2 lbs today. He
can stand to gain some weight as this boy has muscles and is thin for his
build.
He acted pretty good though as she put stuff in his eye and looked at it
with lights and shifted it around and put more stuff in his eye to wash out
the mucous and then put more stuff in his eye and swished it open and shut
several times. Dr. Boone says that he has a abnormal/deformed eye which
makes it even easier than normal for a pug/boston/frenchy or any other
protruberant eye type of dog to injure. What all that
red and yucky stuff is, is all the blood vessels going to the eye to heal it
as it is an older ulcer and is father along in the healing process than we
thought. She said for me to put this ointment in 2 times a day as it is
still painful to him. She is gonna neuter him and look at his eye again on
Thursday.
Anyway he behaved well so we took the muzzle off and since I was behind him
I chanced it and lifted his lips for her to look at them.
HE didn't snap or anything at me. She thinks that he
is about 2 years old. So he is not an old dog thank goodness.
Then we came home and I let him out with Bruce Harpo and Sadie in the car
area. He is ok with both Big and small dogs. He came in and one of my cats
was in the kitchen and he just calmly walked by him like he had seen cats
all his life. So it looks like he is ok with cats.
I am no longer a little careful with him since he was a bit aggressive at the
shelter, but I am thinking that he was just totally freaked out about being
lost, found and put in a very loud and scary shelter environment. They had
him back in the rabies quarantine area too so I guess he was only available
to his owner who didn't come looking for him or to rescue. So I think in a
few weeks he will be ok as he has jumped up on my chair and asked me for
attention just a few minutes ago.
This is a very bully looking boy and he is really pretty even with a bad
eye.
Don't ask me why but White Russian just popped into my head when I saw him.
So that is what I named him. :)
The longer I have him the sweeter he is. Russ loves to ride in the car.
He does this cute little stand up on his back legs and bounce down thing at you
when he wants to play or when he doesn't want to walk through the door to go to bed
cause he wants you to come and pick him up. This boy is sweet as can be. But transport
may traumatize him so please give him a break if we have to transport him to you and give him
a day or so to get used to you.
UPDATE - Russ has gotten used to the house and to me. No aggression issues towards humans at all.
He does get a little protective of his human when too many dogs crowd up around me for
attention, but he is real good about stopping when I squirt him with the squirt bottle. This
boy craves to be loved. He will stand with his feet and head on my knee when I am sitting for as
long as I care to stroke his head. HE is a lover and he is a goofy character. I think that he will
make someone an excellent dog.

Thank you.

ZIMADORI ZINGER
VET HOLD!
Female
approx 23-28 lbs
4-6 years old
Stray at Vernon Texas Shelter
Good markings
Spayed
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
?????!!!
CATS - OK
Children - not tested
House trained - Seems to be housebroken at shelter and to doggie door here
Crate trained - yes
Other Dogs - GOOD
SPECIAL NEEDS - NONE determined at this time
This little girl came in as a stray. She immediately stole Beverly's heart. She is good in the crate,
loves to ride, is very laid back for a Boston and just a general all around affable girl. Zimi is good with
all the other dogs here. She is affectionate, but not pushy. She didn't soil her kennel at the shelter and
waited for them to take her out for her walkies. She is going in and out the doggie door here without any
problems so she probably is housebroken as Beverly surmised. She has a very happy face and loves to get attention.
Zimi is a bit bigger female, but she has that wonderful Boston personality that so many people remember from their
childhoods. Whoever adopts our Zimi will be head over heels in love with her as she has that Boston appeal and
general all around happy goodness glowing from her. Don't miss out on a wonderful girl because she is a larger size, us
big girls need love too.
If you would like to contribute to Zimadori Zinger's care and vet bill, please feel free to use
paypal for your payment or you can mail the payment to my vet with the notation
"American Boston Terrier Rescue - Zimadori Zinger" to:

Thank you for your assistance for this sweet one.

LOST DOG - BOSTON TERRIER - FEMALE

Our beloved Hope has been missing since late Sunday night, June 8, 2008. She apparently
escaped
from the yard and wandered off, which is unusual behavior for her. Words cannot express
the depth
of our pain. We are absolutely sick without her. We are offering a $1,000 reward for her
return.
Hope is spayed and has a microchip.
Please, if you have any information, please call us, no matter the hour.
