PENRYN, CALIFORNIA 95663
LOST DOG - BOSTON TERRIER - FEMALE

Our beloved Hope has been missing since late Sunday night, June 8, 2008. She apparently escaped
from the yard and wandered off, which is unusual behavior for her. Words cannot express the depth
of our pain. We are absolutely sick without her. We are offering a $1,000 reward for her return.
Hope is spayed and has a microchip.
Please, if you have any information, please call us, no matter the hour.

Unfortunately, not all the babies that ABTR tries to save are adopted. Some like Wee Willie who was picked up by Animal control who contacted us and was
rushed to the vet do not make it. A lot of the seniors stay with us until the end of their
days being loved, cared for and vetted as if they were a member of the foster’s family. These vet
bills need to be paid as well which is why we ask for your donations.

IF YOU WANT TO SURRENDER A DOG
in North Texas (DFW/Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas) /Southern Oklahoma/
West Arkansas/Northern Louisiana,
please contact us via our voicemail at (972) 407-4440.
ABTR accepts all Bostons no matter how old they are or what is wrong
with them healthwise as we have space available in our program. We DO
NOT accept human or dog aggressive dogs as we do not have any 1 dog
foster homes. We do have a waiting list and Kill shelters that work with
us get priority over any other dogs on the waiting list.
We WILL NOT return calls that are just asking questions about dogs
available.
DOG INFORMATION IS ON THESE WEBPAGES!!!
PLEASE READ IT
IF you
have SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT A CERTAIN DOG, please feel free to email
them to Wanda , otherwise, all the
information that I have about the dog is right here on this page.
We are
volunteers and our time is limited and we prefer to spend time taking
care of the dogs instead of answering questions that have already been
answered below. If you are interested in adoption, please fill out our
application. THANK YOU!!!
|
|
|
We recommend anyone adopting a dog from us to use a
crate to prevent any damage to your home or belongings due to separation anxiety that may not
manifest itself here. We further recommend that you take the dog to OBEDIENCE classes to help
teach
your dog to become a good member of your family and to help you bond together.
|
|
ATTENTION: When you are approved is when you get to
choose a dog from the ones that are currently available that I think will suit your needs, IF you
are ready to adopt at that time !!! IF YOU ARE NOT READY to adopt at the time you are approved,
then I will NOT hold a particular dog for you as I need to get these dogs out of here and not
have
them holding spaces that another dog needs for 2 or more weeks waiting on someone to get back
from
vacation, etc. Once you are ready to adopt after you are approved is when you can choose a dog
from
the ones available. If I only had one or 2 dogs in it would not matter, but there are some weeks
I
get up to 8 new dogs into rescue and I need the space. Thank you for your understanding.
|
|
Other dogs MAY BE available that may not be listed yet as I don't always have time to update the
page daily. Some of these dogs above may have adoptions pending or have been adopted out as I
don't
always have time to update daily. BE PREPARED TO ACCEPT A DIFFERENT BT THAN THE ONE YOU APPLY FOR
if the dog does not fit into the family dynamics or has been already adopted by someone approved
before you. We do work the apps in the order we get them. Please fill out an application if you
are
interested in adopting a BT. Thank you
|
|
For local adopters, we do NOT let you take dogs on a trial basis, either you
want to adopt a particular dog or you do not want to adopt a dog. These dogs
have been through enough upheaval in their lives, moving them into a new
home for a few days or weeks and then back to rescue would traumatize them
even more. So, please do not ask me about taking the dogs on a trial basis as
the answer is NO. Be sure you want to adopt a dog before you adopt it. We
are always willing to take a dog back that doesn't work out, but we try to find
the right fit the first time. I am looking for homes who will consider these
dogs part of the family, not just dogs to try out and return if they are not
perfect. No dog is perfect, whether it is rescued or not.
|
|
PLEASE NOTE: IF THE PICTURES ARE JUST A SQUARE WITH A X IN IT LIKE THIS , THEN IT MEANS THAT I HAVEN'T TAKEN A PICTURE AND POSTED IT YET!!! I WILL POST
A
PICTURE AS SOON AS I TAKE ONE.

|
|
PLEASE NOTE: Adoption pending means that I am just waiting on the adoption fee or transport for
the
dog to go to their new home.
|
|
Please do not apply with every Texas rescue, just apply with the one that has the dog you want to
adopt. Often we are working the same applications and that wastes our time when we could be
working
different apps and re-home more dogs. Thank you for your understanding!!!
ADOPTIONS ARE BY APPLICATION ONLY!!!! |
|
IF you have SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT A CERTAIN DOG, please feel free to email them to me,
otherwise
all the information that I have about the dog is right here on this page.
I process the apps in the order that I receive them, WHEN I have time between vetting, fetching
dogs, home visits, my life, etc. Sometimes it is a couple of weeks before I start processing your
application due to the busyness of my schedule. IF you get another dog in the meantime, please
send
me an email and let me know.
The Adoption Process Is: 1)
You fill out and email app to me. If there is anything that you think I need to know that I have
not asked you or you have certain requirements or traits you are looking for in a dog, please put
it in the application.
2) I check your references.
3) If those pass, then I arrange a home visit.
4) If that passes, then you can adopt a dog from the ones that are available at
that time. A dog that you may be interested in may already have had a number of
applications already in on him that were processed before yours, so please be
willing to adopt another dog that I may have come in that suits your needs.
While pictures are nice to see, looks are not everything. Personality and
actions are what determine the best dog for you.

DOGS CURRENTLY
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
THESE ARE ABTR DOGS
ABTR Is Responsible For The Care Of These Dogs
Updates:
Due to the large amount of time it takes to care for the dogs, it is difficult to frequently
update
the individual dog's bios. The dogs here are in a loving safe environment, so if the
information
provided has been listed for a while, chances are the dog has seen some improvement and hopefully
has blossomed. The longer a dog is here, the more we can tell you about his or her personality
and
make a good family match when we do your finalinterview.
Note:
Hundreds of wonderful dogs have found forever homes through American Boston Terrier Rescue. We
have set up two pages to feature and honor some of these dogs. You will find the first page,
New Beginnings and Happy Endings by clicking
here.
The second page was specifically made to highlight our Senior Adoptees and their gracious families, you
can
view it by clicking here.
There are
many Special Care
Dogs that come to
ABTR in such poor conditions but with your support and the loving care of
everyone involved many of them emerge ready to live the life they were intended
to all along. We want to share just a few of their stories to encourage you that
even ONE can make a difference. Be aware that many of the images can be heart
breaking and graphic but the outcome is what it is all about. You can view their
stories by clicking here.
IMPORTANT
At this time, most of our dogs are not kid tested as they have come from sheltersor picked up as
strays. Occasionally, we get a dog that is from a family environmentand in that case, it will
say
on the website thisdog is good with kids, etc.If you have kids and are an approved adopter we
will do our best to match a dog with your family that will be compatible with children. However,
we
can not guarantee a dog to be kid friendly as we do not have many foster homes with children.
After you are an approved adopter we can cat test a dog you may be interested in. The tests will
only be performed after you have become an approved adopter. Thankyou for your understanding in
this matter.

This boy is something else. He is a character and a half. He hates being crated and tells you all
about it. HE loves to go and sniff everything. HE loves attention and gets along
with most dogs. He doesn't like other dogs getting in his face. I do believe he
has some healing ulcers on his eyes, Cindy hasn't looked at them yet to tell me
what they are. He can see fine. He has a lot of hair loss across his back like a
lot of them we get that have been covered in fleas and is a bit under nourished
with dry flakey skin. With some good care, love and good food, he will soon be
looking good and ready for a new home. This boy will make someone very happy

Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies, and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia Negative!
Housebroken and wee wee pad trained
Blackhawk aka Blackie was living with his momma in a nursing home.
Unfortunately his momma's dementia worsened to the point that Blackie was not getting the care
that
he needed so he was surrendered to us.
He lived under her bed at the nursing home and he was a bit on the scared side when I got him.
He is not used to being on a leash and is used to being picked up and carried outside.
Since being here I have discovered that Blackie is very loving, very attentive to you and gets
along fine with the other dogs here.
This is a very nice dog and would be an EXCELLENT companion for an older person as he was an
older
persons companion to begin with.
Blackie does have a long tail, but he is pure boston.
He is a sweetheart and I do hope that someone sees what a wonderful gentleman he is.
Update: 2/22/05 Blackhawk has developed a bit of a heart problem
and
we have him on meds.
He is doing well on them, but is not gaining much weight yet.
He is very thin.
Update: 5/15/08 - Blackie has
been with us for over 4 years now. He thinks he lives at my house and is my dog. His health is
starting to fail so we have placed him on vet hold. Blackie will spend his final days in his
foster home. He will still need donations for his care as he is an elderly dog with heart
issues. Thank you for your kind thoughts for this wonderful sweet old man.

I got Bugsy from Altus in Oklahoma, a WONDERFUL little 4-5 year old stocky guy who has a
great personality and gets on with other dogs. He is a very laid back fellow. Bugsy loves to
sleep with you and is always up for a little one on one attention. Bugsy Altus was a stray at
the shelter, he is in very good shape and not starved.
:( This un is a keeper. This is what Ernie at the shelter had to say about him, Quote: Bugsy
came to us as a stray which we still don’t understand! He is such a sweet well behaved boy and
you would think that his family would look for him. But as you know there are too many that are
never looked for! He touched our hearts the first day he came into the shelter and after we
got to know him better he really became close to us and our hearts. I know you’ll just love the
little stocky guy!! As you can see by the picture he is good with children.

!
This little Fort Worth boy is TINY! I bet he weighs about 10-11 lbs. Should probalby weigh
about 15-16. Don't seem like many lbs. but on tiny dogs a pound is a lot of weight. He reminds
me body wise of Napoleon, but he has those buggy eyes. Ginger told me he looked like a bobble
head cause his head was more pronounced than his body. I can see that. my husband thinks he
looks like an alien with those big soft liquid eyes of his protruding out from his scrawny little
self.
He was real growly and frightened. He has snapped at the other dogs, but I think that is because
he is very scared. Ginger said he was like that when he first came into the shelter and then
after a few days he became much more loving.
He has had something to eat and I could pick him up without any problems out of the crate to take
him out to potty. this little man is so skinny, he has lots of hair loss as you can see and he
has raw patches and sores on him too. I think someone kept this tiny little one outside as that
is what it looks like and just neglected the hell out of him. Poor tiny little old man. Well he
won't have to be outside ever again. We will have Dr. Cindy pull bloodworks and see what she
thinks we need to do for him. I didn't even check to see if he had Wallies. I can't tell in the
pix, but I will know tomorrow. This one is gonna take some TLC for sure.
Cadbury has been out and about the kitchen with the other old farts and is doing better with
them now. He was just frightened in a new environment. On Sunday 8/3/08 Mr. Jim is going to
come pick him up and foster him in Dallas for us. This little boy will be living in luxury with
Jim and his Bostons. Cadbury touched Jim's heart and now he is going to be very spoilt, pampered
and well cared for with his own little doggie bed and even gets to ride in style to the vet and
back as well.

Gertrude aka Gertie
Available for Adoption!
Available For The Senior For Senior
Program
Female
14 lbs.
7 years
Stray at Austin Shelter
Black and White Spayed
Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Positive and has been treated and is ready
to go to a new home!
This sweet little girl was picked up by Pug rescue in Austin and I was contacted to take her. We
did xrays on her back end due to her walking really funny. Poor old Gertie has been shot in the
rear end. Cindy said that she had a big pellet deep in the muscle that she didn't want to dig for
and make her more sore since it wasn't causing her any problems. She does have very bad patellas,
but is not in any pain from them as she doesn't limp just walks bowlegged as heck. since she is
not hurting we are not gonna do any surgery on them. Her hip joints are a little bit wonky as
well. She was also in HEAT!!! Poor old girl. She Won't ever be in heat again that I can tell
you. :) Gertie is a sweet girl who loves to get attention. She is good with the other dogs.
UPDATE 5 1/15/08 - Per Danielle,
Gertie's foster momma - Well, our little old lady has got some heart problems. Ever
since her 'Big Adventure', Gertie's breathing has been sounding more raspy and rattling. This
morning, she had what I thought was a seizure - she went stiff for a couple seconds, and then
limp and her bladder emptied all over the bed and my sleeping husband! Poor girl! We got her up
to Dr. Cindy this afternoon, and the xrays showed an enlarged heart and congestion in her chest.
We're starting her on some Lasix and Enalapril to see if that helps. Dr. Cindy did an ECG and
found that there are some times when her little heart is just forgetting to *fire* and that may
account for the 'seizure' activity.
Despite her awful breathing, Gertie's energy level hasn't waned...in fact, she's seemed more
active. She romps around like a nut with the pug puppy, and lets everyone know she's still in
charge of any chew toys around. She seems happy and content still, so I hope this medicine will
help give her a continued good quality of life for as long as she's got. She's a precious little
girl. I told Wanda that it just KILLS me the way Gertie has been hacking and coughing and
wheezing ALL weekend....and her breathing was just perfect today when we saw the doctor. It's
like taking your car to the mechanic!
If you would like to contribute to Gertie's vet bill, please feel free to use paypal for your

Black and white - good markings
Stray at shelter
This little lady came from the Hot Springs Arknasas Shelter. We are vetting and fostering for
Friends of the Homeless Animals until arrangements can be made to get her to them. IF we can
find someone locally that wants to adopt her, then we have their permission to adopt her out.
Can you believe that someone actually let this sweet little old lady out to get picked by
animal control? Jessie is a sweet little old girl that just wants to have a soft bed to sleep
in, some good food and some lovings. She is special needs and I wouldn't put her in with small
children with her being deaf and blind because they might hurt her. If you have a big heart that
wants to love someone who will appreciate the love and attention you lavish on her, then please
do fill out an application for this old girl. We will get her into the vet next week and let
you know more about her status then.

Micah got a call from a 19 year old girl who has a 3 yo male, not utd and not nuetered. She is moving in with boyfriend and tried to drop the dog at the shelter, but they gave her Micah's number.
Jordon is a playful delightful little guy. He loves to play catch me if you can with a toy in his mouth and tug of war with my Boxer puppy Teddy. Jordon has a delightful personality and is everything you want your Boston to be, Ok with cats and other dogs and just happy to be alive. Jordon likes to cuddle in bed with you too. Whoever gets this little one will be thrilled with him. HIS only issue is that sometimes he will try to protect the person from an exuberant dog jumping all over the person. But a quick squirt with the water bottle generally ends the issue.

He
looks so bad it hurts my heart so very much. Poor
baby. Right now he is not feeling good at all so I
can't tell you what his personality is like. He is
eating good, but sleeping a lot like the mange
babies always do. It will be several months and
lots of treatments before he gets better. We got
him the 1st of December. So maybe by end of Feb or
March he might be ready to go to a new home. He
was found in Marshall. Can you imagine someone
letting this baby get in this bad a shape? Poor
little guy. Sometimes I really don't like people
much when I see dogs in this shape.
One
good thing is he was heartworm negative so that is
a plus for him.

Moon Pie was a stray at the Dallas shelter. We have no history or information on him. He has a
Scar down his back from Chemical burn or from being burned by a hot muffler under a car. He is
20.5 lbs. HE is about 1-2 years old. He gets on with other dogs, but is on the humpy side
right now. Once we get him neutered and the hormones have time to get out of his body that should
calm down. Even with the scar this is a beautiful dog. HE has the best face, so expressive and
happy. Moony is happy and wants to play and is just a sweetheart of a guy. You will loose your
heart over this one. Moony is way too interested in our cats, so no cats for this boy.

OS by a BREEDER
and White - well marked
Spayed
Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm
Positive and began his treatment on 6/16
and should be ready for adoption mid July.
Quince is one of 4 puppymill dogs that we got, all of whom were heartworm positive. Quince had a
lot of hairloss on his back end as you can see in the pix. His hair is already growing back in
and looking better with the care he is getting in his foster home. He was negative for demodex
and the hairloss and sores were due to flea allergies. Quince was the one most frightened of
people and if you move at him too fast he will run from you. As he gains confidence he is
starting to come up to me to get attention. He loves treats once he determines that they are a
treat. He has to smell them very carefully before he will take them. I think he is the youngest
of the bunch. This boy is precious and a good looking dog. Quince needs obedience training and
is not good on a leash. This boy will need someone who understands that the whole wide world is
frightening when you have been in a cage for your whole life and just needs to gain some
confidence which will take love and time.

adoption
Rooty is a very laid back boy who just wants to be loved. He seems to be fine with the other
dogs here. This is a sweet little guy and what a FACE!!! I really like him. He likes to lay
under my printer table with Bugsy and snooze while keeping an eye on me. IF I move, he is right
behind me to be sure I am ok. Rooty is a quiet little guy and very sweet. He wants to be with
his people.
I think he may have an old injury as one of his back legs is not working properly now
that I have had him for a wee bit. It looks a little stiff and draggy. I will get Dr. Cindy to
do an xray on thursday when she neuters him to see if that is what it is or if there is something
else going on we need to know about. He came from out in the country in Greenville so he might
have been run over or shot in the past like a couple of the babies that we have gotten.

SCOUT
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Male
lbs
5.5 years old
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies,
and 7 in 1 shots.
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia negative
Scout is a 5 ½ year old Boston Terrier who had a rough start in life.
Because of this he needs a very understanding person/family that will be
tolerant of his quirks and will continue to work on his obedience training.Scout's story goes a
little something like this –
Thrown from a moving car as a puppy, little Scout developed trust issues
pretty early on. Who could blame him? He eventually found his way to a
placement organization and was later adopted to a large family with many
children. It seems Scout had received no training and was regularly crated
for many, many hours at a time. He had virtually no socialization with
other dogs and very little with people. Even though he lived in a household
full of people, it's obvious that he was never part of the family.
Scout displays all the typical signs of a dog that has been neglected, and
in the opinion of his foster family, abused as well. He has come a long way
in a relatively short amount of time and he continues to improve daily.
Still, due to the trauma he endured, we will not adopt him to a family with
young children.
Most of the time Scout is a happy-go-lucky fella who loves his Bad Cuz, a
good game of fetch and nice long walks. Leash training is an ongoing effort
for this guy who has a lot of exploring to do. Being locked up for many
hours at a time doesn't give a dog much time for outdoor play and discovery,
so he's making up for lost time. Leash training and obedience are tops on
the list of "must-do's" for his new person or family.
He learned how to use a doggie door in just minutes and while he's pretty
much housebroken, he may mark if given the chance. A bellyband will help,
but again, obedience training and positive reinforcement are the keys to
helping Scout be all he can be.
He's a physically healthy dog and he's quite large for a Boston Terrier,
weighing in at about 32 lbs. Despite his size, he thinks he's a lap dog.
He can be a bit mouthy at times and he's a nibbler – ears, fingers, etc.,
but consistent training is helping to break him of those habits. Scout is a
very loveable and energetic dog and he'll make a great best friend for
someone whose life and schedule are relatively calm and consistent. Scout
thrives on routine.
Scout's a smart dog, and very willful, so he requires someone who is calm
and patient to show him the way. He does not do well with abrupt
personalities and he generally prefers women to men. His ideal match would
be someone who has a very calm-assertive presence (thank you, Cesar Millan),
and who is willing to continue his obedience training.
Scout is up to date on all of his vaccinations and he's heartworm negative
(on Heartgard). His adoption fee is $275. *Scout is not an ABTR dog. The
adoption fee will be donated to ABTR.*
Please email aggiebts@yahoo.com for an adoption application. Prefer
adopters local to DFW, but all serious inquiries will be considered.

OWNER SURRENDER
Black and White Spayed
Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
Spunky and Sissy were owner surrenders to the Denton Animal shelter. The man contacted the shelter about a month ago about surrendering them. He adopted them from the Plano shelter several years ago. Unfortunately, his boss gave him a choice, start traveling 100 percent with your job or be laid off. In this day and age jobs are hard to come by so he started traveling. The man was single and didn't have anyone to keep Sissy or Spunky for him while he was traveling so he contacted the shelter about it. I think he paid to have them boarded at a vets office until he could come to terms with letting them go. Debbie the ACO assured him that rescue would take these 2 babies and find them a wonderful home.
We were told the dogs were approximately 6 years old since he got them from a shelter when they were adults so really doesn't know their true ages. They are due for their shots and we will get that taken care of today when we go to the vet.
Sissy is a precious little chunk of a girl. She likes being with her people very much and seems to be house broken. She does cry and sound pitiful if she is behind a fence or dog gate and you are on the other side. Sissy is happy go lucky and just wants a little attention and she is a happy camper. I would guess her to be 18-20 lbs. The ACO said she should have been the one named Spunky.:)
Both these dogs were well cared for and loved that lost their home through no fault of their own. I am hoping that we can find these sweet babies a fantastic home.

Snickerdoodles
IS ADOPTED!!!!
Male
15.9 lbs

Was Dumped at Hammond Louisiana Animal Shelter
Markings - not sure on color since fur is missing
Neutered
Up to date on Bordatella, Rabies,
and 7 in 1 shots. Positive for Demodex and
being treated
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia negative
Snicker
doodles'story contains graphic photos.
This
is what Wayne his temporary foster said about him, "He is a male BT about a
year old but has very, very bad mange and has been abused. He cringes every time
you get near him. He was afraid of the camera and is afraid of the other dogs.
He hasn't been neutered and is not house trained. He seems okay in the crate.
Apparently he was dumped at the Hammond animal shelter and it looks like he has
never had any kind of vet attention - and probably has never seen a kind
person in his life. Sad, sad case; the worst we've had I think. On the next day
he says: He has really come alive today. He is just fine with the
crate....and he gets along with everybody he doesn't take cold very easy because
he has very little fur. He cringes when you raise your hand but he's friendly
and very, very sweet."
Here is what I have
observed. Doodles is learning to intermingle with the other dogs. Sometimes he
gets a little overwhelmed and snippy with them ,but generally gets on well. He
is timid, but wants desperately to love you and get love. When you give him
attention he soaks it up like a sponge and he has a face that just melts your
heart. He likes to lean against the back of my legs when I am on the computer
and met pet the top of his back. Doodles wants to play the mouth game with you,
opens his mouth and wiggles it around your hand, but never bites down just
rubbing his mouth around on you. He is a precious boy and will be a joy to
someone who is willing to work with him and show him what love is. He is a
typical puppy. playful, needing obedience and house training.

UPDATE:5/5/08 - Doodles is growing hair back, but he still has positive for demodex mites and
his feet are still swollen and sore. We have been soaking them in epsom salts and putting a
lotion on
them to try and help with his sore little feet. He is a sweet loving little guy and loves to
cuddle up under the pillows on my bed.
UPDATE: 5/15/08 - Since Doodles feet were not healing up on the meds we were giving him, we
had a culture done. He has psuedomonas and an antibiotic resistant staph infection. So we are
changing the course of antibiotics and hope this helps. We will continue to work with him until
we get those poor little feet healed up. We have no estimate on when he will be available. It
will take however long it takes.

UPDATE:7/8/08 Just thought I would give everyone a heads up on Snickerdoodles. The doods feet
are really looking like they are clearing up on the increased dosage of ivermectin and the
baytril. They are only slightly pink and there is no oozing like there was before. I think they
are drying up as the skin looks like pink scar skin in tween them toes and he ain't as ouchy you
touched my foot. He is still worried it is gonna hurt so he will move his feet away if you start
messing with them> :)
Dr. Cindy will be back from vacation next Monday and I am planning on taking him in to have her
look at the feetsies and do a culture if she thinks he needs one, but if he keeps getting better
I bet one won't be neccessary. I will have her do a demo scrape as well. So he may be ready to
go to a new home next week.
I do have an application pending on him. I am so excited for the Doodles. He might actually be
all better soon. :) Doodles is the boy that likes to lay under the covers of the bed and snooze
whenever he is not eating or playing. Teh bed is his safe zone. I think it was the one place
where walking didn't hurt his little feet. I have a waterbed so it is soft and gives when the
dogs walk on it.
UPDATE: 7/29/08 I met Kara and her fiance Chris today. It was REALLY hard to let him go. I
think Kara might have thought I would change my mind cause I kept hanging around and just
couldn't seem to say goodbye well. I am happy that he got a new home, but I got a bit depressed
on the way home and shed a few tears. They were thrilled to see him and pick him up. Doodles
seemed to be happy bopping around in their car with his new Boston sister Bella while we were
filling out paperwork and talking. He even raided Kara's cup for a drink. :) I think that he
will be happy and well loved with them or he wouldn't have gone anywhere. She says she will keep
us updated on the boy. Anyway, the Snickerdoodles now has a loving home with a Big SISTER to play
the mouth game with.
DOODLES ADOPTION FEE DID NOT cover his vet expenses, so any and all donations are still welcome.

Positive and has began treatment on 6/23/08
and should be ready to go to her new home around 7/23/08
Sprinkles has skin and hairloss issues due to malnourishment and neglect. She is negative for
demodex. It will take time, but the sores will heal and the hair will grow back as she gleans
nourishment from the her new diet.
This is a precious little girl. She is very very
submissive. Sprinkles gets along with my other dogs. She was a stray at the GPAS shelter so I
have no history on her. This little girl is a cuddle bug and just wants to be loved. I will not
put her in with a dog that will walk roughshod over her nor will I put her with a family with
small children. She has already gone through enough in her short life from the way she acts and
shouldn’t have to deal with pushy dogs or kids. She has a very sweet and lively personality when
she is playing with other friendly non dominant dogs as you might be able to tell in her
photographs. Sprinkles like to cuddle up close to you and sleep at night. With a little love
and training this precious little one will make someone a great cuddling companion.

I feel really sorry for him. Hopefully he will snap out of it in a few days or weeks. So right now I can't really tell you what his personality is like other than laid back and grieving. He has eaten some hot dogs for me and does go outside to potty through the doggie door.

Sugar Frosting
VET HOLD!
OK WITH CATS
Female
13 lbs.
2-4 years
Marshall seized from owner in neglect/cruelty case
Black and White - Mismarked SPLASH
Will be Spayed
will be Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
POSITIVE
We named her Sugar Frosting. :) This poor girl is in sorry shape. She weighed a whopping 13.2
lbs. I would guess she should should weigh around 20-22. I know that 7 lbs don't seem like a
lot, but to a small dog that is 1/3 their body weight. But I will let you know as she gets
better how much she does actually fill out to.
Her gums were totally white with no pink. We gave her a megadose of strongid and drontal to
knock out any worms as our first treatment per Dr. Cindy's instructions when I called her and
told her how bad a shape this baby is in. I am to bring her in first thing in the morning. I
will be cooking her up some livers to help build up her blood. She was so blood poor that we
could not get any blood out of her arm so had to do a neck stick to get enough to test it for
heartworms. Dr. Cindy pulled a skin scraping to check out the skin problems. Did she have ticks
as well as fleas. She has little sores all over her.
Sugar is having totally liquid poops, we pulled a fecal and will be working on her for that as
well. She has been started on metro for the poop issues. This dog is not in good enough shape for
us to do a spay or any major surgery yet so it may be 4 weeks if not more of good food and
supplements and whatever treatments Dr. Cindy recommends before she is spayed. I will not
endanger her health if she is not in good enough shape by spaying her too soon. Dr. Cindy may
want to pull some more blood to check out other problems as a lot of times these poor neglected
and starved dogs have unseen issues that the blood work shows.
On the last batch of neglect/cruelty dogs I got from Nacadoches, we fed up the really starved
ones for several weeks before she pulled any more blood work so don't be surprised if you don't
hear from me about her for a couple of weeks about additional bloodwork results. She just pulled
out enough blood to do the heartworm test since she was blood poor. The strongid is a fact acting
wormer that knocks rounds and hooks out fast, thank goodness. We will reworm her with that again
next week and the following week when we give her another dose as well.
This is the note I just got from my vet about Sugar's vet visit. Dr. Cindy says: She is
heartworm positive, didn't see any microfilaria, and found one roundworm egg (meaning they
cleared out well with your dose of wormer). So give her some more strongid in a week and drontal
on 2 week intervals for a couple more treatments. I didn't see any demodex on the skin scraping.
Neglect and bad conditions or else they got rid of the problem with their dip (fleas and ticks).
end of quote.

OWNER SURRENDER
Black and White Spayed
Up to date on Rabies,Bordatella, and 7 in 1 shots
Heartworm/lyme/erlichia
E
Wendy was an owner surrender from a lady in Farmersville. Wendy is good with children from baby 2 , 9, 11 and 14 years old as this lady has 4 children. The reason for giving the dog up is that the youngest baby is allergic to her. After discovering the child was allergic Wendy was tossed outside with 2 big dogs who wouldn't let her eat their food and since her acreage was not fenced the lady was worried she would be eaten by a coyote. That is why she contacted me as she wanted her to go to a good home. She said she was named after Wendy in the Peter Pan books.
Wendy is 18 lbs, 2 years old born 5/8/06, and a very pretty girl. She knows sit, stay and is crate trained. She is partially housetrained and may need a little more work. She has not been on heartworm preventative and it looks like she hasn't had regular vaccinations, but we will test her for heartworms and remedy the vaccination situation. Wendy gets along well with the other dogs here. She is a docile, gentle and sweet little dog who is very confused about what is happening to her. This one I know is good with kids unlike most of the ones I get so she can go to a family.
